A person was bitten by a dog on my property and sustained minor injuries (not my dog; visiting). His lawyer has sent a letter asking for my insurance information. Am I required to provide? If not required, is it in my interest to provide anyway. I have a homeowner policy and an umbrella policy, so should have adequate coverage if it comes to that. Nevertheless, I am curious as to my obligation to provide such information upon request or should I wait until a they take further steps? Location: Los Angeles

You’re not obligated but it might be less of a hassle than waiting to have a lawsuit filed against you. The other approach is for you to contact your insurance yourself and tell them what happened, and give them the information.
