Psychopaths, when did you realize you were different?

r/

I’m currently reading a book about this and find it interesting.

At age 10 when my grandma passed away everybody in my family was sad and crying but I was happy and cheered up because she is no longer in pain and departed in better world (hopefully)

well, according to the internet i’m a “moderate psycho.” started looking into it cuz i tend not to consider other peoples’ feelings when making decisions and always felt like i was faking my way through personal interactions.

I’m not a psycho but, I hope all of you that are find someone that humanizes and loves you for all that you are and all that you are not. Resist the temptations and urges you have and it will get easier every day to blend in and adapt. You deserve life too.

There was a period of time I thought I might be a psychopath. Turns out I was just extremely traumatized and not coping well.

I started working on it because I was confused why I didn’t care about anything or anyone. I wanted to feel the emotions I heard so much about.

I wish some actual psychopaths showed up.

I used to know a guy named Bob who tested as one standard deviation above the norm in psychopathy on an evaluation. He had a monotone, but otherwise he didn’t seem abnormal to me. He thought it was really shocking that he was literally less emotional than other people. He didn’t realize he was different and struggled to wrap his mind around the results.

The others I’ve met on this spectrum have narcissistic and antisocial traits mixed in more heavily. It distracts from psychopathy and there is often no clinical evaluation discussed to add any context or measurement. (Not every person with narcissistic traits or NPD or ASPD is a psychopath, but there can be overlap.)

But, there are just some things psychopaths do and say that other people don’t really seem to.

Most people who go around calling themselves “psychopaths”and “sociopaths”are just losers using those terms to give themselves an edge or sometimes excuse the fact that they’re just terrible people.

Not one myself but I do have a friend with the disorder (I think? He had been diagnosed with antisocial traits and some other disorder when he got committed in a mental hospital for a month.) He’s actually an okay guy, just one I wouldn’t ask for support etc. He’s not that emotional and he’s extremely judgmental, but he is pretty accurate in his judgements. We fell out around a year and a half ago but he’s definitely one of the more interesting people I’ve met in my lifetime

Psychopathic narcissist here. I realized I was different when a guy got high on my college campus and ran around attacking people. He only managed to lightly bruise a student, but he did stab a cop. He died from his bullet wounds. People around me were saying “Oh, it’s so sad he died.” and I was confused. If they knew the guy, sure, but none of my friends did. I was confused as to why they were sad about his death when it didn’t affect their life.

I started questioning myself when I noticed a pattern of the kind of people I attract.
