I was pulled over for the first time about an hour ago. my car has auto headlights that usually just come on when it’s dark or getting dark, but they must’ve malfunctioned or something because I was pulled over for driving without lights (it was a relatively lit road, so I didn’t notice). the officer asked for license/proof of insurance and he ran my car through his system so I assumed I’d get a ticket but when he came back, he basically just warned me and wished me a good night. am I getting a ticket in the mail, or did I get lucky?

lucky, probably just a warning. Some cops will just run make sure nothing of concern and let you know and either note or not in their system
Running license, reg, and insurance is standard. It can show if you’ve had a bunch of previous tickets.
If they didn’t give you a ticket, you’re good.
I still remember the first time I got pulled over, thought. It’s stressful!
