Whilst Reservoir Dogs and Jackie Browne are solid films. The rest of his movies are nothing but childish nonsense. In the words of Gary Oldman, “they’re movies imitating movies imitating movies imitating movies”. He talks about wanting to retire after his 10th film because he doesn’t want his standard to slip. But he hasn’t made a great film in almost 30 years. And one of the reasons he never acknowledges that is because the only great movie he ever made was a collaboration with Roger Avery

Definitely unpopular. Take my upvote
I don’t even particularly like Pulp Fiction 😬
djano unchained was a great movie. 9/10 movies are imitations .. usually its the dogshit low budget movies that are original and thats usually why they fail.. because why change what works?
Uhhh Jackie brown???
Kinda on board with this, honestly, except I love Inglorious Basterds…
Jackie Brown and Death Proof are his only movies that kinda suck. Everything else is gold
OP hasn’t seen Inglourious Basterds and The Hateful Eight. Or has no taste.
Agreed. “Pulp Fiction” was one of my all time favourite theatre experiences – a three quarter full cinema, so a crowd, but not elbow to elbow, that laughed at all the dark humour together. Tarantino’s films post 2000, with the exceptions of “Inglorious Bastards” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” have paled in comparison to his stuff in the 90s. Part of it is his actual personality in interviews, but even I’m surprised to the extent I went from seeing him as a genius auteur to a guy whose films I barely have an interest in and have little excitement for his final film.
looks at Tarantino’s films
notes that Oldman regrets not being in a film directed by Tarantino (https://theplaylist.net/gary-oldman-laments-not-working-with-quentin-tarantino-says-he-wont-be-in-the-movie-critic-20231230/)
Here, take my upvote.
Yes
Inglorious, Kill Bill, Django, and Once Upon A Time in Hollywood are all top 100 films of all time.
I thought Inglorious Basterds was ok although largely absurd but I hated Django Unchained.
I almost agree but Kill Bill is tons of fun. Maybe not a great film in the snooty sense but an absolutely fun and satisfying action adventure flick – top of its genre.
Everything else I can take or leave.
Good Lord, what crappy taste you have. Upvoted.
I don’t see anyone here mentioning Kill Bill 😢. Vol 1/2 together are a very close second to Pulp Fiction in my opinion.
Definitely unpopular. Tarantino is my favorite director and I think most of his movies are masterpieces.
People like to rag on his movies, but he captures natural dialogue like no other director can imo, besides Scorsese or Coppola maybe.
Kill Bill
>The rest of his movies are nothing but childish nonsense
The only support you offered for this was some quote from Gary Oldman.
I don’t know about your take when he’s not trying to make the best movies . His stories are always original and unapologetic in his characterization. All his movies never have been bad to watch . I’d watch it without asking any questions
Ooooof. This is wild!
But, hey- it’s like, your opinion man.
you might be up to something. what about inglorious basterds? nah?
Kill Bill and Inglorious Basterds are brilliant films.
The opinion is indeed unpopular.
After watching that amazing Kraft Macaroni and Cheese scene in Cliff’s trailer in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, I must mightily disagree with you, pardner.
I’m sorry, but I would have been on board with this if you allowed Jackie Brown and Reservoir Dogs.
That’s the sort of bold take I can respect and, of I’m being honest, support. He was better when his work was slightly more grounded.
Kill Bill is by far Tarantino’s best
Nah Once a upon a time in Hollywood is brilliant
I kind of agree. He certainly overrated and makes the same movie over and over. But Jackie Brown is a really really good movie and I love once upon a Time in Hollywood.
I absolutely love all of his other films but IMO Jacky Brown, in its entirety, sucks ass. Kill Bill too but it gets a pass because it’s meta and does have a handful of good scenes.
Pulp Fiction is his best and yea you could argue that. I do think with Kill Bill and on we got the comicbook Tarantino. It happens to all great art they know the code to well and it becomes derivative and a caricature of itself over time.
Pulp Fiction is my favorite of his, but Kill Bill, Jackie Brown, Inglorious Bastards, Reservoir Dogs, and Django Unchained are all great.
I respect your right to have the wrong opinion
Kill bill! Not every movie needs to be 100% serious and grounded
Kill Bill?
100 agree
Inglorious Bastards and Django are great flicks. I do think all his classic films are just ok and Kill Bill is terrible.
No one is even bringing up Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It’s in his top 3 IMO. I loved how he flipped the script and did an anti jump scare with the trailer, doing a long set up for horror that turned out to be a mundane moment. And we all thought we knew how it would end. And Brad Pitt on acid was one of the funniest things ever filmed.
“What’s your name again?”
“I am the devil and I’m here to do the devil’s work.”
“No it was something dumber than that.”
I think some of these posts are just made up BS
Inglorious Basterds? Really? You’re just gonna ignore that masterpiece of a Tarantino film?
Pulp fiction is his 3rd best movie 😂
Nah hus other movies are pretty good. Its just that pulp fiction is well above even hist “great” movies.
This is a horrible take, and quite frankly, it’s unsettling. But keeping with the theme this is certainly unpopular. Here’s an upvote.
Upvoted because Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is my favorite Tarantino film.
Your take on it being a childhood fantasy of beating up Bruce Lee and doing it all for Polanski is pretty out there. If that’s all you took away from it, maybe Tarantino movies just aren’t for you
What about Kill Bill?
This is just a wrong opinion lol
Absolutely insane take when Inglorious Bastards exists. Upvoted!
Hard wrong on this one. Sorry bro
This reeks of “I’m a student of cinema and the greatest movie ever made is a French film about a clown taking a shit that I saw during a bender in Paris.” kind of energy.
+1 for the unpopular opinion though, congrats!
Almost Every movie he has made is a great movie. Have you seen the standard for movies and how much shit gets made? Judged against the average film all his movies are great.
Reservoir Dogs was pretty good
Jackie Brown? Hahaha
Inglorious Basterds is magnificent. You’re just straight up wrong. Upvoted.
Once Upon a Time In Hollywood…
I haven’t watched a lot of Tarantino films. He’s not my cup of tea. But I really liked Kill Bill Vol 1.
Pulp Fiction? BANGER
Inglorious Bastards? BANGER
Django? BANGER
Kill Bill Vol 1 + 2? BANGER
Reservoir Dogs? BANGER
Hateful Eight? ABSOLUTE BANGER
From Dusk till Dawn? Underrated BANGER
Grindhouse? BANGER.
Very unpopular opinion and rage bait at that.
Agree 100%. Surprised to find someone else with this opinion. Some of his other movies are good. But always thought he was overrated.
