Raising Canes is just a more popular version of Zaxby’s.

r/

Im not gonna lie, over the past couple of years ive heard a lot of hype for rasing canes as they added a few to my area. I dont dislike them, its pretty decent but every time I go theres a crazy long line and its super busy so I cant help but think, why even spend the time waiting when the Zaxbys down the street has no wait and the food quality is the exact same. Maybe its just me and I want to get some other opinions but for me, they are the exact same quality, and the taste is very similar. I know this isnt very serious its just a thought I had that I wanted to share.

McDonald’s is just a more popular burger king

Walmart is just s more popular Sears

    I can keep going

See we tried Zaxby’s when we lived in North Carolina and it was very disappointing. Like most southern food they just confused salt for flavor.

I don’t have a Zaxby’s near me, but I know one of the reasons I go to Cane’s over other chains is the service. I’ve only ever had fresh food and great service from Cane’s.

Its the same as when people claim Popeye’s is better than Chick-fil-A. Popeye’s has some of the worst service in the industry so I don’t care how much better the food is on a good day.

With this logic, you could put anything into the,”__ is just the more popular ___.”

    Zaxby’s is better

There are many chains like the both of them in the South, particularly in Alabama and Georgia.

Haven’t had Cane’s, but Zaxby’s has a lot of other chains with the exact same gimmick. Don’t know where or when it started. My city had a local one chain way before Zaxby’s started even. (Edit: Was reminded that we had two of them pre-Zax)

So…I think this one is just accurate haha.

As a northerner, I have hardly any Canes near me and zero Zaxby’s so it really doesn’t matter. Lol

  9. mashed-_-potato Avatar

Both are not good. Zaxby’s is too salty and Cane’s isn’t salty enough.

agreed. cane’s is mid. the sauce makes the meal. zaxby’s sauce is basically the same exact thing, but their food is more seasoned. i’d eat zaxby’s with no sauce, but i would never eat cane’s with no sauce.

Nah, I’ll take Raisin Canes all day. I don’t have any love for zaxbys.

had both and at least for me, the chicken strips at canes are far better than zaxbys…

  15. Curtis_Low Avatar

I live around Nashville so we have both here. I would choose Canes over Zaxby’s 7 days a week. Better service, better chicken strips and I like their sauce just a bit more. We have other chains around this area that offer pretty much the same thing that are better though… McDougal’s (local and awesome) and Waldo’s (bit more expensive but you can get a beer there).

If Canes would improve their french fries they would shut down every Zaxby’s around… but Zaxby’s are already being closed around here while Canes locations keeps growing.

Hey I just came from raising Cane’s and was not impressed but I did see they had flava flav on their team now so that’s cool

  18. Parallax-Jack Avatar

In my experience canes was better but it just depends on location

  19. brafish Avatar

Both serve very low-flavor chicken, so agree.

Canes is garbage in my opinion. Probably the blandest chicken you can buy. I liked it when I had it for the first times years ago and liked it a little less each subsequent time. Bland chicken with thin breading that gets soggy unless you eat it there. Fries are mid, the cane sauce is as bland as the chicken. The best thing they have is the Texas toast. Don’t have a Zaxbys near, but do have a Guthries which seems to be a canes clone. At least they offer a few different sauces for their chicken.

Isn’t it somewhat regional which one you are familiar with?

I’m pretty sure most states don’t have Zaxby’s. I’m not sure about Cane’s.

I grew up on Zaxby’s here in GA. It was so good to me as a kid/teenager/college student, it felt almost sinful. I’ve eaten enough Wimpy traditional wings-and-things meals to feed a decent-sized country. It started to decline in the late 2010s and really nosedived during Covid. The flavor of the Wimpy sauce changed. They stopped giving celery with the wings. They cut their menu and started having all these recurring promotional meals. I eat it now out of habit and convenience.

We’re starting to get some Canes here, but the only time I have eaten it was on a trip to visit my sister in TX a couple years ago. I will say the chicken was better than what Zaxby’s has become. But original Zaxby’s was better than Canes.

We also have a few Guthries, and a terrible small chain called Otter’s.

  24. genus-corvidae Avatar

We have like three Canes where I live. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Zaxby’s.

  25. InfidelZombie Avatar

I’m sorry, but Cane’s figured out how to mix ketchup and mayo to make a sauce, so your opinion is invalid /s.

The lines will die down over time. People are just excited about something new and different finally.

Moving to the south and discovering there are like 6 regional chicken fast food restaurants that are located no where else was a trip. Then discovering they are all the same was not as fun.

Is this another one of those places where if you don’t live within 30 minutes of the state capital or some nearby metroplex, you’ll have to drive over an hour just to try? I get so tired of these lol. Why limit your customer base like that? And honestly Zaxby’s is the best chicken place anyways for tenders. 100% reliable and plenty of menu options, unlike 4 items on the entire menu chik fil a
