Recently into girly/cutesy music & feminine colors and patterns—but worried about judgment. What should I do?

r/

I’ve been going through a weirdly specific music and style phase lately and could use some outside perspective.

Music Taste Shift:
I’ve always been super anti-pop (hated how repetitive/polished it felt), but recently I’ve been really into sugary, girly, or cutesy music—like, unironically loving it. My usual tastes are all over the place (jazz, punk, rockabilly, gospel, Latin, etc.), but here’s some of the stuff I’ve been vibing with:

Girly/Cutesy: Kero Kero Bonito, Tiffany’s “I Think We’re Alone Now,” ABBA, Owl City, Mika’s “Lollipop,” Magdalena Bay, 100 gecs

Sugary music (I’m not as concerned about this mostly just being judged for listening to girl groups): The Archies, 1910 Fruitgum Company, The Ronettes, The Jackson 5, Wham!, The Monkees, the crystals

Has anyone else had a sudden pop-music awakening after hating it forever (I still don’t like the mainstream stuff I suppose)? I know my family will judge me for this because I’ve been the “anti-pop music” guy my whole life.

Style Crisis:
I’m a rockabilly/greaser revivalist, but lately I’ve wanted to mix in more summery, feminine colors—pink flamingo Hawaiian shirt, pink Converse, red heart sunglasses. My mom straight-up said she “forbids” it because I’m a straight male and should “dress like it.”

Are heart sunglasses and pink clothes actually too feminine for a straight guy?
How do you deal with judgment when your tastes don’t match your “usual” persona?

I’m not trying to change my whole identity, but I like what I like. Should I just lean into it and ignore the comments, or tone it down to avoid drama?
