Redhood is the best character in the Batman universe

r/

I mean think about it, he starts out pretty simple and then gets his shit rocked by joker. He’s able to recover somehow and even stays on batman’s side(which, let’s be honest, he had no reason to stick by him and he’d be completely justified if he didn’t).

I’m not saying I dislike the other robins(except from Damian), and I think the true successor to batman has to be Tim Drake. But Jason Todd is definitely the most interesting one out of the bunch.

Despite this, I do think he’s very underutilized and it seems like writers don’t really know what to do with him. So a lot of times it feels like “oh, redhood is also here”, without his character has much of an impact.

That’s just my two cents though, what do you guys think?

God I hate when someone makes a post and they start with “think about it”. I don’t know why but I always take it condescendingly over text.

Redhood is cool though, the Batman Universe is DC so I’ll take Superman or someone a little more fun, if we are talking Bat-Family I like Nightwing..

    Here’s an upvote.

Funny how the show is called Batman yet Batman isn’t the best character. Weird

Think about what? You didn’t provide any reason why Jason is better than anyone in the Batman mythos. You just briskly glossed over his back story and literally nothing else.

Do you like Redhood as a character or do you like his origin story?

As an origin story, I agree. Under the Red Hood is a great story. But you can only tell it so many times. After that, what you’re left with is one more vigilante anti-hero, who uses guns to kill bad guys (usually in contrast to Batman refusing to kill), in which I find Jason Todd to often be quite bland in this role.

Once you get past the origin story – what is so much better about Redhood’s personality and character as a gun wielding antihero vs. Say Deadshot, or Deathstroke, or huntress? Or even some of Batman’s non-gun wielding antihero’s like Azreal, Catwoman, Talia Al Ghul, Harley Quinn?

I disagree his story hasn’t really advanced since he was introduced much like Damien they keep repeating his arc of he’s a prick/asshole who will have conflict with batman over their worldview and then they’ll forgive each other and everything will work out. They’ve repeated this like 6 times now when I first saw the animated movie I thought it would be great in live action but I’ve got fatigue because it’s the only story they do in adaptations.

Personally I thought Cassandra Cain always deserved more spot light since her not being able to communicate like everyone else means the art and storytelling need to adjust to that in relation to her development of being able to express her self Better.

I guess the issue with red hood is what you said, they don’t know what to do with him. That is an issue and why he’s not one of the best or the best. If he was, they’d have a place for him or something for him to do. He can just as easily be the more brutal bat fam member yet he’s not really. He’s just there. I also dislike him because artists can’t decide if his mask is a mask that his facial expressions show thru or if it is consistently like a helmet
