Location: Chicago IL & TN
Multiple layers but I work for a company in Chicago, ended up relocating to TN be closer to my grandmother (who was my legal guardian) so I can help care for her as she ages. She’s 87 and needs assistance with some daily activities. I received a 6 month exception and they don’t plan to extend it. They’ve asked me to submit my resignation. Is it best to refuse, apply for FMLA, or just resign? Any other option? I’ve been with the company about 9 years.

Not sure about unemployment in Tn but from most states I know, if they fire you, you get unemployment benefits. If you quit, you don’t.
