Was looking through posts on 4chan while on a bender with friends, found this stupid post saying CALL THIS NUMBER 877-790-4433, and I stupidly did, and IT READ MY GOVERMENT INFO, guys am I in danger now? Does anyone know how that is even possible? not joking asking real advice please

What do you mean by “government info” ? because if it’s just your name and number they can’t do much. if it’s your SSN, any card/bank information, etc. you should start calling your bank and credit card companies to report the incident and dispute any unauthorized transactions, and you can get all new cards and freeze the old ones. You can contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to freeze your credit score which will prevent scammers from opening up new credit accounts in your name. You can also place a “fraud alert” on your credit report. It will warn creditors that you may be a victim of identity theft, and they will verify your identity before opening new credit accounts. You might want to update your passwords especially if they are saved to your phone, or if you have one regular password for everything. If they have access to your SSN you can make a report to the Federal Trade Commission at IdentityTheft.gov, you’ll want to contact the IRS to prevent tax fraud, and the social security administration. You can also file a report with the FTC for fraud at ReportFraud.ftc.gov
