Women of Reddit, I need advice. I’m not a morning person and even though I regret it later in the day, I can’t get myself to put in the effort to do my makeup in the mornings. How do I convince myself to do it? Secret tips are welcome.

Why do you feel you must? It is OK not to wear makeup. Many women don’t.

(I personally can’t either BUT) romanticize everything. Make your life special and every little part about it special. If you see a cute spoon you wanna stir your coffee with get it and make your coffee the best way you can. Take a nice shower, get all the nooks and crannies and do your makeup and get all ready for the day. Put on the cutest jewelry even for the grocery store

Etc etc but you get the point lol

Try setting everything up the night before, and set your keys, wallet, or purse next to it. I HATE getting up out of bed earlier than like 5 minutes before I leave, so having everything set up and ready really streamlines the process.

For the first few days of trying to do makeup early, reward yourself and maybe your groggy brain will be like “if I do my mascara, I get to have a matcha” lol

Every habit takes time and consistency to build. If you don’t have acne issues, you could sleep in it too 😭 depends how desperate you are.

Do it in the car when you get to work instead. You’ll be more awake then anyway and you can finish listen to your music or a radio show.

Serious answer: Do you ever have to do video calls (zoom, Teams, etc.)? I cannot bear to look at myself when I am a mess – so I fix myself up. I use Bare Minerals and I can do my makeup in under 2 min – powder foundation, powder blush, lip stick or balm, eye liner, mascara (lightly). Just foundation and mascara is enough for a lot of people. Find a product that does double duty – like a tinted moisturizer, a tinted lip balm, etc.

You need a simple routine. Put on a tinted moisturizer and blush stick in the morning when you brush your teeth. Do mascara, and lip gloss in the car otw to work.

I actually can’t wear makeup. I’m very allergic. It makes my eyes water all the time. So I ended up getting my eyebrows tattooed on, not the microblading the actual 3D tattooing and I get my lashes done. I just make sure to take really good care of my skin since I can’t wear concealer and such.

    Give up makeup?

I am a professional and dress and wear my hair “the part” but haven’t worn makeup since high school. Haven’t missed it

I’ve also had my eyebrows tattooed (I have a small childhood scar along one of my eyebrows) but I felt like it faded off a little too quickly for the price.

Just don’t and accept who you are with your wrinkles and with your flaws, your red skin and whatever.

    I don’t like wearing make-up, so I don’t.

Something that I am going to do is semi-permanent make-up by coloring my wimpers and brow. That’s it.

Start with just mascara, powder and gloss. Give yourself a mere 5 minutes to do it. Do that for 2 weeks, then add a step. Continue to get up a little earlier and add steps until you have a full face every day.

The main secret? Do not chase the “ideal”, do “good” for YOUrself 🙂
Routine for 5 minutes: tone with leaving, eyebrows, mascara and ready
When it becomes easy, the brain will stop resisting
And one more thing: collect a mini-kit in a bag. You can make up along the road, at work or when you have already woken up at least a little morning you can resist, but 11-hour you are already for any cooperation 😅

Small victories create a habit. You will succeed

I don’t bother with makeup unless I have some place to be. Once in a while, I don’t bother getting dressed for the day. No one here to complain.
