Hi, apologies if this seems like too much information, but yea I am a teenager who did not have much parental or specifically a father figure to lean on with this kind of stuff. I am having a hard time on learning how to shave my pubic hair. I just wanted to ask how would I shave it with just a shaver (the manual one, different from a razor), since that’s the only thing available in home 😭
that’s all I guess, my huge apologies again for this kind of question. thank you so much for helping me, this means a lot 🙂 💞

Carefully! Make sure you do it in the shower with some steam to kind of open up the hair follicles. Clean the area first, make sure the razor is clean. ALWAYS use a shaving cream or conditioner, anything that will provide a gliding barrier of sorts between the razor and your skin.
I don’t think there’s many parental figures that pass this knowledge down lol. Most people learn by doing. But I can give a couple tips.
Biggest concerns are cuts and ingrown hairs. They make trimmers for this sort of thing but you still need to be careful. Use a non scented soap in the shower for lubrication and take it slow. Never shave against the grain (meaning the hair has a way it grows, dont shave opposite that, shave the same direction) and exfoliate afterwards. If you dont take this advice there’s a higher likelihood of an ingrown hair which is painful and can scar. Don’t overdo it on pressure and take it slow. Depending on how much you’re trying to shave, you may need to trim down first or it will be a very slow process and not very reliable or accurate, meaning scissors. Shaving works best on skin that’s relatively taut – I won’t go into incredible detail on how to work that out but you’ll have to figure out methods to get there.
Not sure where you plan on doing this but assuming you don’t own said shower, clean up after yourself and don’t leave hair all over the drain or in the drain.
I just want to say that you don’t have to shave it if you don’t want to. Pubic hair is normal and serves a purpose. You can also trim it with small scissors if you want to be groomed.
Instead of shaving, I’d recommmend using a trimmer to trim to no less than 1/4 inch.
If you shave, you will learn what many of us have. Shaving = having an itchy crotch for a week. Never again.
Don’t recommend clean shaving it’ll just be itchy, trim with scissors or some hair clippers with a 1/2 inch guard
With all shaving, I recommend trimming it down first. I also recommend using something different for your pubic hair from your face.
Me too. Except my dad was around I just never asked. Kinda learned as I went. Do it in the shower if you’re planning on shaving. Run warm water clean the area first and use shaving cream or shampoo. Clean razor. Rinse razor after every shave of the area. If you plan on trimming just make sure to catch the hairs to throw away. I would trim in the shower (no running water) and gather the hairs afterwards. Rinse off and rinse away the few hairs that stayed behind.
An electric body trimmer with a guard is, imo, the best and least dangerous method.
Using a razer is a great way to introduce issues like cuts and a very itchy crotch- not to mention ingrown hair.
You can get them for $20 on Amazon- just make sure you clean and lubricate the blade before and after each use.
I’m trying to imagine myself in 1990 as a teenager asking my dad about shaving my pubes. I’m certain it would cause him to look at me, mumble something, then leave the room and go use a power saw for the rest of the evening. The next day my mom would tap on my bedroom door and say “your dad and I are concerned about you – are you doing ok?”
But probably the answer is “don’t shave your pubes.” Use a trimmer if you want to keep things looking less like you just came out of the wilderness, but even that isn’t necessary. If you insist, there’s already solid advice here.
Let’s make sure you’re approaching this from a sound premise: why do you believe that as a teenage boy, shaving pubic hair is necessary?
My teenage boys use a trimmer for pubes and under the arms so it looks neat and less sweaty.
I’m a single mom and I’ll tell you what I told my son:
You want a trimmer, not a shaver. Always clean the trimmer well. Shower, exfoliate, and moisturize the day before. Shower after you trim, and FFS, clean up all the hair (a damp paper towel works the best). Trim on a Friday afternoon so you can spend a couple of days commando in loose pj pants – this reduces the chances of ingrown hairs. Get a handheld mirror so you can see what you’re doing and shave in the tub – you can prop your foot up on the edge for stability and to get a better angle. Do not allow pets in the same room when you trim because they will roll in your discarded pubes and track them through the house.
Some partners like it when you clearcut the forest. Some hate it. Aside from keeping the hair clean and hygienic, all southern shaving decisions need to be made by you and for you, not for someone else.
Ummm, don’t.
Just because you see it on porn does not mean you need to do it.
Shaving your pubic region is actually less hygienic due to cuts, abrasions and ingrown hairs.
It does not make your junk work any better or differently.
It does not make it look bigger.
If you are just experimenting, sure go ahead, but do not do this because you feel social pressure to do it.
The smooth skin effect fades away as fast as your face shaving smoothness does and you will get the sandpaper and velcro effect pretty fast.
If you absolutely must then get a proper electric shaver for intimate parts.
Bud, if you want to shave I would save my allowance and by the sensitive skin one blade by Gillette. I’m one of those guys that have to manscape so my wife doesn’t get rug burn, so I’ve put it through its paces.

Look up on YouTube “dad how do I”
You’re getting some great advice here, but keep him in mind for other things that come up, and actually watching. Visuals help tremendously.
There is a YouTube channel that (I think) is “Dad, Hiw Do I?”. The guy started it because he didn’t grow up with a father and had to learn all by himself. He teaches tons of stuff a dad/parent would normally teach their kids.
