Should I (17m) ask if my (17m) boyfriend if he wants to beak up before my grandfather undergoes cancer treatment

r/

I (17m) started dating my long distance boyfriend (17m) 2 months ago and everthing is good but he got some medical news that is stressing him out and I’m worried about him so should I give him an out?
1. I know I’m about to be an emotional wreck and im gonna be unavailable emotionally or just unavailable in general
2. This is alot to deal with in a relationship at 17
3. He’s got his own stuff going on
And just so much more factors of life I honestly don’t know what to do and I dont know how he would see me asking him this question will I be the bad guy and he will see me differently like I want to leave the relationship because I ABSOLUTELY do not want to end things but I also don’t wanna put him in a position where he feels drained to talk to me
TL;DR
Should I ask if he wants to break up?
How should I ask if I do?
How would he see me?

No.  This is silly. He doesn’t need stress at home and from you.

it would be best if you first, just tell him exactly what you wrote: that you’ll be less available now that you have news about your grandparent
that you do not want to break up and will need some support, some grace because you’re life is going to change, and from there let your bf answer

no need to offer the break up option rn, just my opinion
