Hi friends!
So I am 6 months postpartum and like many, struggling with the changes my body has gone through. I’m up from a size 4 to a size 8-10 sometimes even a 12. A small to a large in tops. I can tell my hips are wider and my rib cage has widened. I need some advice, give it to me straight. I should get rid of my pre-pregnancy clothing right? I have gotten new clothes and am working on being confident and building a new style, but I’m struggling with if I should take the plunge and do a full reset and get rid of this old stuff that doesn’t fit. Everyone says I “might be able to fit into it again!” But I honestly don’t know with my frame just being completely different.
I need just some general advice I guess lol. How do I find my style? Do I get rid of these old clothes?

If you can afford it, get a whole new wardrobe. Your body shape is so different now and your pre-pregnancy clothes may not fit the same. Mine certainly didn’t. And if you do get new clothes, buy whatever you feel the most beautiful and comfortable in.
It depends. Are you actively trying to lose weight to get back to where you were or are you comfortable with the way you are? It’s really hard especially having a little one taking up your time. I’d say if you think you’ll get there maybe just save your favorite pieces and put them in a vacuum seal bag. My weight fluctuates a lot so I save a few things of varying sizes cause of this. If you’re comfortable where you’re at get rid of them. Don’t lament on what was. Look to the future.
Donate to a women’s shelter! You have a new body and lifestyle and getting new clothes is part of the process.
Pre pregnancy I was a size 0/2 and it took me almost 2 years to get my baby weight off but I was determined. I also breastfed but that didn’t help me lose my weight at all! It was so hard when I bought a size 10 pants so I know your frustration. My friends all told me that if you lose all your weight before getting pregnant again, if you decide to have another baby l, it will be a lot easier to lose your weight the second time.
You could get rid of some or all of them on the grounds that you NO LONGER would WANT to wear them even if they did fit. The new mother you needs a total restyle without regard to fit.
Pregnancy isn’t just weight gain. It’s physical changes to the structure of your body, so even if you loose every ounce of baoy weight, it’s unlikely your clothes will fit the same.
I went into pregnancy at 5’9, 114 lbs., and a size 4-6 (smaller didn’t exist then) and a 32A bra. If nothing else, I never got close to a 32A again.
Just toss the stuff and get new clothes.
Do you not like the clothes you had before? Your only 6 months pp and a lot will change in a year.. it won’t be the same. It just depends on you though and your health and if you have fitness goals. I had one kid and dropped the weight so quickly with breastfeeding and then fluctuated up and down and then became even slimmer than I was before I had first baby. Now having a second and you just don’t know how much your body will change through those first couple years..also depends on your age, hormones ect.. do whatever makes you feel good and confident. But maybe if there are a few outfits you still love id hold onto those. I personally didn’t get rid of anything.
My suggestion..if your hips widened, get rid of the pants. Your hips will not shift back.
Shirts are harder. I’d probably save one or two for sentimental purposes and get rid of the rest.
And that’s saying something because I despise shopping
I’d wait until the 1 year mark or even 1 1/2. I was back to a 4/6 at 6 mo. My SIL who was much smaller than I at the beginning went back to her size at 1 1/2 years.
Maybe keep a few top quality pieces that you know you’ll never find again if you lose the weight, and donate the rest.
Purge the old, and get some new stuff that you can just enjoy in the moment.
Not sure how old you are. Younger woman tend to bounce back to pre baby weight sooner.
