Should I just say fuck it and go bald?

r/

Get a buzz* is what I meant, I just wanted the title to be stupider.

I have long, curly, luscious locks and I’m indecisive if I want a buzz. I know it really depends and it’s entirely up to me (I’m almost 100% sure I want one) but I’m worried that I’ll look stupid or if some people will be sad I cut it.

Anyways, what are the pros and cons of getting a buzz? From your own experience, please. I need to be sure, I’m insanely sensitive about my hair.

If you’re insanely sensitive about your hair then I wouldn’t recommend getting a buzz cut.

About 6 years ago I had extremely long hair and decided to get it cut short (with an undercut, it was about 3cm long on the top). I instantly regretted it.

It has taken me YEARS to grow my hair back and I am extremely sensitive about my hair. When I got it cut I was certain that it was what I wanted but hindsight is 20/20. However everyone is different and you did say that you’re almost 100% sure.

Anybody that is ‘insanely sensitive’ and describes their own hair as ‘luscious’ is not ready to lose it. IMO.

Do you have birth relatives with similar features or hair type that already do have, or would be willing to get, that cut? This will give you a preview. A lot of programs on your phone may also be able to do this.

Keep in mind that long curly hair, when cut, tends towards tight, frizzy curls when the excess weight is removed in some cases. Personally, I can cut 5 inches off, before that is too much of a problem.

You may be more comfortable taking it in steps. Cut an inch off twice a week. You wont need a style cut till it gets above your shoulders, so do it yourself. Or perhaps shave a small undercut and see how it feels before doing the whole head.
