I’ve been a news reporter for my school newspaper for almost 3 years now. Over the years, it’s been a major stressor for me, but i’ve stuck with it because I want to show commitment. However, now that I will be a senior next year, I’m not totally sure if I still want to do it.
The community within it is pretty toxic (badmouthing to get a higher position, advisor picking favorites, not everyone getting published, etc). It also takes up a lot of my time; I would be a lot less stressed if I didn’t have it. But I’ve also learned a lot along my journey and gained some invaluable experience.
Will it look bad on applications if I quit now and only have journalism for 3 years?

Do you enjoy it?
It won’t look bad, you’re overthinking it cuz of the pressure and itl be a new unfamiliar step you’re talking. it looks great you’ve had three years.
This is necessary experience btw, quiting things that don’t work out for you or harm your mental health. It’s something adults have to do, even when it in a job I were looking forward to- if it harms u emotionally and doesn’t add positivity, quitting and starting fresh elsewhere is a skill.a skill u have to grow and exercise. Saying no. Changing. Quiting. These things aren’t easy In the slightest
But once u KNOW u gotta quit. Do not talk yourself out of quiting just cuz it’s scary and new. I did that club in highschool alone with tons of my friends. Hun we didn’t do more than three years, cuz it’s exactly what u say It is. Three years looks amazing on paper.move on and do something that adds to ur happiness
