I feel like they should probably be allowed for those who are imprisoned long term, but only for people who have demonstrated a real thorough drive towards rehabilitation and after a very strict risk assessment process.
I am dubious about allowing it for people who marry folk they didn’t previously know, whilst in prison. That feels a lot riskier.

Maybe we should focus more on rehabilitation in general instead of locking people up and forgetting about them.
Should we pretend like we can’t rehabilitate anyone because this one time we couldn’t rehabilitate this one person?
This is going to sound radical to some of you, but maybe we shouldn’t base policy for millions of people off one or two incidents.
You’d have to come to the table with more than a single example of something bad happening before claiming it’s reason to rethink things.
Sorry to sound callous, but play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I’m not sure why legislators need to waste their time on this.

Making policy for the average based on the exception is… silly.
