Of course it’s not always financially smart to have this arrangement, it just seems like the best way to love PURPOSEFULLY and INTENTIONALLY, while getting to have your own individual space that is decorated how you want and kept to your level of cleanliness.
I think with two different spaces, the act of inviting/asking your partner in to sleep with you at night is much more intentional and a small expression of love and affection that disappears when you “don’t have any other choice” and automatically sleep in the same bed.
The result is, everyone gets space if they need it but you probably will spend many nights sleeping together and that will be an expression of love rather than just a default set up.
