Alright, time for some real talk. 🔑 Let’s dive into something that might ruffle a few feathers—smart locks vs. traditional locks.
So, here’s my unpopular opinion… Smart locks are actually way safer than the old-school locks we all know and love.
But honestly, people are still super hesitant to switch over because of all these myths floating around. Why is that?
I mean, think about it:
- Smart locks are not as easy to hack as people think (and they’re way harder to pick than those old-school keys).
- If the battery dies, no biggie! You’ve got backup keys and even USB options to power it temporarily.
- They’re not complicated at all. I promise you, you don’t need to be a tech genius to unlock your door with a tap or voice command.
- And honestly, old-school locks are just easier to break into. The convenience and added security of a smart lock can’t be beat!
But hey, that’s just my hot take.

I can get into one of those just as easily as I can get into a hotel electronic lock🤷🏻‍♂️ I don’t inherently disagree with you by any means. If it exists, it can be exploited.
I always chuckle when people spend so much time arguing which lock is better.
They all suck if your house has a component called a window.
The problem is that smart locks usually have a backup traditional lock attached in case the smart lock malfunctions and thus the smart lock is objectively worse than the traditional lock.
Smart locks are almost always literally traditional locks with a secondary option. So if you assume the smart option is somehow 100% full proof, its only as good as the traditional lock, otherwise its inferior as the person breaking in has a choice of which method he’s better at cracking. Smart locks might have pros to them, but being safer certainly isn’t one of them.

Nice! So instead of just having a key with me I use normally, now I have to still bring a backup key with me, or a power bank, USB cable, whatever (or go around asking neighbors if they have one). You didn’t think this point through. Brilliant.
