So I’m going to have to watch my nephew for the summer while my brother and sister in law work how much should I ask a day or week?

I’ve never charged anyone to watch a child before so I have no clue where to start thanks!

I’d start with asking $1k a day and go from there.

I’ve been in this situation and it depends. Nothing if watching him would just mean including him in my life. If I had to watch him but could do other things, I’d just ask for expenses. If it was a job job, then I’d ask for whatever was fair in my area (which is $1k wk).

Too much missing info. Days and times for work shifts (eg: M-F, start time end time.) General age of child (relates to degree of supervision/limiting OPs options during work shifts). How this arrangement will take up/restrict options for other work or socializing/trips.

Start with minimum wage. No job should pay less than that. It’s already too low to live on.

Since it’s family, OPs need to make money for expenses and saving for the school year is significant. If OP is a student, summer is both prime earning time and prime time to have mini adventures with peers. That’s something to consider. If OP has other sources of support and income, and doesn’t see significant lost opportunity cost by committing to a FT job, a family discount could be okay.

If nephew is fully toilet trained and socialized, and able to navigate routine tasks independently- late elementary or middle school aged (9-10 years or older) they could be running buddies for a summer of fun.

Way too much missing info. Don’t work for less than minimum wage is the only sure advice I can give, knowing so little.
