I feel sick to my stomach. I’ve had many issues my my sons father but this is beyond inexcusable. My son’s father is married with another child and lives in Kentucky, I live in Indiana. My son is 5. This is the first time ever that my son has spent a month with them, I’ve been very protective due to past situations between him & I. I had to block my sons father & his wife for a separate issue that I was not okay in my eyes and I was going to leave it at that. My son kept saying he never wants to go back there again, it’s not like him to continue to say things like that. I decided to google my ex and a horrific article came up of him brutalizing his dog for 15-20 minutes. I mean HORRIFIC. I asked my son about it, he didn’t want to tell me, he started crying, but he then told me his father was mad at the dog for pooping on his “expensive carpet” that he could hear the dog crying, and looked out the window to see his father beating the dog with a bat. He told me he loved the dog and he never wants to go there again. This was hidden from me. And my child is traumatized. I just found the article last night, and I’ve been sick ever since. Is there anything I can do? We don’t have a custody agreement, but I absolutely do not want my son around him, if he can do that to an animal, what could he do to his kids? I’m sure his two year old brother witnessed this as well. And my child saw this. I’m trying to figure out what steps I can take since this happened in Kentucky and we live in Indiana. Could this be grounds for me to be able to file for sole custody? Location: Indiana
