Soon to be ex-wife unexpectedly cut my phone service today

r/

Location: Rhode Island. I’ve already contacted my lawyer regarding this but need help with my angle in the meantime as it’s after hours.

I am in the middle of a divorce and have a new phone coming in the next week or so. Today, I logged into our joint Verizon account to get a transfer PIN so that I could start moving my service to a new carrier and when I did, my soon to be ex-wife changed the password and logged me out of my session. She then proceeded to cut my phone service off with no explanation so I am without cell service, which is impacting me at my job. Colleagues, friends, family members, and business partners can no longer text my phone number – it bounces.

Obviously I could just get a new number and transfer the service but I’ve had my phone number for almost 20 years. Don’t want to change it for obvious reasons.

We’d also been ordered to pay our bills the same exact way we always have for the time being and were also ordered to not use our joint credit cards at all.

Over the last week, her lawyer has been on vacation and as soon as she left, STBXW started bugging out. She almost immediately used the joint credit card to pay for $3,000+ in car repairs. And then fast forward to today, she cut my phone line.

What kind of legal recourse can I take? She’s playing mind games and seemingly getting away with everything but I’m done letting this kind of shit slide.

NAL. Suggest cross posting to r/familylaw. The phone sounds like a violation of automatic TRO’s in pendency of divorce but that’s a question for your lawyer. The car repairs, too.

You can sign your phone number up with T-Mobile or some other service provider. Bonus, they’re cheaper than Verizon and I have had no problem with coverage. I live in NE
