I dont think there is a version of Dooku that doubts the plan will work. We see him in ATOC send the Death star plans away and later tell Sidious all has gone to plan. In his mind the war is won anyway. He wont think of defeat as he is guranteed by his master it wil not happen
The novel said that Dooku will play victim and blame the Sep council and Grevious for all the war crime, then Palp was gonna pardon him, at least that’s what he thought the plan was going to be
I think he probably has multiple options. Maybe he thought Palpatine would let the separatists win, but more likely he could stage a sort of betrayal and deliver the republic the heads of the separatist military leaders and go for reconciliation after the “corrupting” influence of the Jedi was gone from the republic (basically he could go “now that the corrupt and evil Jedi are gone there is no reason to leave the republic anymore”). This might even help in painting the Jedi as warmongers and blaming the war on them
Well. The plan is for the republic, or Empire, to win the war. Palpatine would then have absolute power and his command would have been the law. So if Palpatine deems it unnecessary to go after Dooku, it won’t happen. He is a count, so he’ll just go back to hs home planet, where he is considered royalty. Officially, at least. Unofficially, he is going to reap the benefits of being the apprentice of the most powreful individual in the galaxy.
