There are a lot of complaints and questions regarding Tychus’ behavior in Wings of Liberty. Primarily around the mission Media Blitz. Such as Mengsk not ordering Tychus to turn the Odin against the raiders or Tychus not warning Mengsk about Media Blitz.
However one common defense against these complaints is that Mengsk was playing the long game. His end goal with Tychus was to kill Kerrigan. However was he really playing the long game?
When the Char mission was starting, he was surprised that Valerian took half the Dominion fleet to invade Char. Even more surprised to see Valerian is working with Raynor. I could understand if he decided at that moment to use Tychus to kill Kerrigan but before that is a bit iffy.
Tychus is just a random marine. Sure he has a connection with Raynor, but no connection to Kerrigan. I could understand if he felt ordering to kill Raynor was too risky.
It’s also important to note, other Dominion troops have gotten close to Kerrigan during the original campaign such as Duke. Though he is dead and Warfield took his place.
Was it really Mengsk’s plan all the way back in Liberation Day to use Tychus to kill Kerrigan?
