Started a new job last week and it turns out the managers are terrible people ❗️urgent advice needed!! ❗️

r/

I started a new job at a restaurant last week, the first day was fine but the rest of the week the managers openly yelled at not only me but my coworkers as well. Telling us we were stupid and lazy and just overall consistently putting us all down in front of guests and each other. If it was just one day I would be alright with it and brush it off but it continued to happen multiple times a night for the rest of the week. When I asked my coworkers if this is a normal thing they all said yes and that I just have to get used to it because it’s not something that is going to change.

I’m a very sensitive person and when I am consistently being put down when I am asking a simple question such as where we put dirty silverware it starts to wear on me mentally. I was going to try to stick it out for a while because, from what my coworkers say, the money it pretty good but even the thought of going into work gives me anxiety and a full body feeling of dread. Not to mention where I live it is currently 95 degrees daily with humidity and the building that the restaurant is in has no central AC and our uniforms are long sleeved dress shirts and black dress pants, so within an hour of my shift I am dripping sweat and my face is bright red (I’m on a medication that is a vasodilator)

This isn’t my only job and honestly I just picked it up because it sounded fun and I enjoy working in the restaurant industry but I just don’t know if it’s worth it. I guess I’m just wondering if I have enough reason to leave now or should I give it more time? I just don’t know.

Management yelling at people isn’t going to change. Just quit.

Bruh, none o’ us s’posed to be working in a place where we’re treated like trash. Life’s too short for that BS. They ain’t gonna respect you more for sticking it out, they’ll just walk over you even harder. The job ain’t worth you losing your smile, man. Ur mental health > Their shitty management. Peace tf out ✌️ Find someplace that values you, fam. Money ain’t everything. 💯💯💯 You do you. Adding anxiety ain’t worth it, and yo, it sounds like a sauna in there! No AC? Hell no. Bounce 👏🏼 outta 👏🏼 there 👏🏼 bro! You ain’t gotta settle for that. Trust me. 👌🏼

Most managers will be terrible…there are some that are good.

You don’t owe your mental health to a paycheck, especially not from people who treat you like you’re disposable. Your peace is a reason, not an excuse. You already know it’s not worth it.

Bro, life’s too short for BS like this, period. If you ain’t feelin’ it, bail. It ain’t just the heat making you sweat, it’s stress. And damn, you’re there cuz you wanted something fun on the side, not a torture fest. Ya gotta prioritize your mental health over a gig any day, IMO. Respect yourself, don’t let them gaslight ya into sticking around. GTFO.✌️💯🚀 You got this!

Apply somewhere else, but first talk to an employee who works there, ask a few pertinent questions, and make sure they have AC, and that management treats employees with respect. Definitely leave where you’re at now!

Unfortunately service industry is like that. You’ll survive just don’t take it personally. In any other industry I would say look for better and you still should, but grinding better expectations against a very heirarchal industry is just going to hurt you emotionally. You’ll do fine.

It’s similar with me and very strict eastern euro or east asian professors. I thrive, I even get more out of their high standards and low pretense. They made me successful in ways snakes who lie to my face and undermine me in higher situations never could. I think you’ll find you’d much prefer the former.

Nothing is worth your mental health. Ditch this toxic environment and find a new job with air conditioning at the very least.

You owe them nothing. Ghost them.

And you are still there because? Stop being so damn sensitive & stand up for yourself! OMG! 🤦🏾‍♀️

Get a video and turn them in to your local department of labor. Then quit.

If you don’t like it and especially since it’s not your only job, it’s pretty straight forward. Quit. Find a different job.
