Steak and Eggs, ate together, is gross.

r/

Steak by itself. Amazing!!! My favorite source of protein. Eggs by themselves, eggs and bacon or eggs and sausage. Awesome!!!

The combination of steak and eggs creates a runny/slimy texture and masks the steaks flavor.

I’ve tried many variations of steak and eggs. Different seasonings, temps, with bread, without. Every time, I wish I had got something else. There’s absolutely no way to make this combination work/taste good.

I’ll one up you and say that an egg doesn’t even belong on a burger, let alone a steak. Stay in your lane eggs.

I would be down for steak and eggs. Runny/ slimy texture is my jam.

Irish American here who grew up in a town with a large Portugese Population. The menu of every Portugese restaurant in town has a steak with a fried egg on it. It’s grown on me over the years.

I nice runny yolk is like natures gravy.

  6. vegasJUX Avatar

I somewhat agree. Maybe not “gross”, but definitely overrated.
The flavors don’t compliment each other very well, IMO.

  7. NobeLasters Avatar

Eggs and Sausage is just Steak and Eggs with an inferior meat selection, all your issues would seem to apply to both.

You obviously have never enjoyed the culinary perfection that is the McDonald’s steak and egg bagel. Skip the onions

  9. No-Function223 Avatar

It has no effect on how the eggs are cooked. Whoever’s eggs you’re eating just suck at cooking them.

I make scrambled eggs with thin steak slices in it them, its pretty good.

  19. Remarkable_Yak_258 Avatar

I don’t like runny eggs, ever, so scrambled or as an omelet works well

    Terrible opinion. Great post!

  24. Ok-Implement4608 Avatar

Ive never had slimey steak and eggs lol, maybe because I cook them separately and I don’t like runny yolk at all so my scrambled eggs are never wet or runny, the steak needs to be a nice medium or even a medium well(which normally would be unacceptable) then some cheese on the eggs and some kind of red salsa, oh and it has to be in a burrito.

  25. Theforgottensoilder Avatar

Just tried that combination not that long ago and I think it’s pretty damn good. Id choose it over bacon but I can’t see any issue.

  26. 0_possum Avatar

I like the idea of it more than the actual meal itself. I like ketchup with my eggs, but if it touches the steak that’s just not okay.

  27. aussiewlw Avatar

    More for me then

  28. gerty88 Avatar

Yeah sausage and eggs is a known MVP but steak…..more a protein thing for dinner. Then again burgers > steak anyway

  29. sas5814 Avatar

I take leftover steak and cut it into small pieces and braise it in butter then pour the whipped eggs over them. Slow cook at medium heat and throw a little cheese in at the end. It’s my favorite scramble.

You are wrong and your opinion is horrible.

    For that, here’s an upvote!

  32. carlweaver Avatar

I’d submit the part of the problem is that places that serve steak and eggs typically don’t have good steaks or excel in cooking them. That has to be part of the problem. Me, I also don’t care for the combination. I like eggs and the sliminess, but give me some sausage instead.

  33. oso-oco Avatar

I struggle with any sort of chicken and egg combo.

It seems weird. Two states of chicken. The beginning of chicken life and the end of chicken life. On one plate. Does not compute.

French fries and Mozambique sauce combine with the egg on a bed of rice. Yum! Portuguese steak is a great way to eat a flank

i disagree that steak is amazing, so take my upvote. As a child, I used to cry when my family ate it. The texture is awful in my opinion.

We use leftover steak In omelettes.

  43. Moody_Mallard Avatar

In France this is called „steak à cheval“ and it can be delicious, especially with steak haché.
It‘s a common misunderstanding that this is made from horse meat. It‘s always beef.

Extra points if don‘t mince the beef but cut it like you would for a „steak tartare“.

Is it a texture thing when the beef juices run into the scrambled eggs? That I could see.

  51. tenk51 Avatar

The combination of steak and eggs creates a runny/slimy texture and masks the steaks flavor.

I don’t think I get it. How/why does the combination effect the texture of either item? They’re not cooked together. If the texture isn’t to your liking, you fucked up the cook on one or the other.

  52. radiowhatsit Avatar

Wow take my upvote and GTFO

    >The combination of steak and eggs creates a runny/slimy texture and masks the steaks flavor.

How? Any time I’ve cooked steak and eggs, they taste exactly the same as if I was eating them separately, just on the same plate.

  54. RaymondLuxuryYacht Avatar
