Stella was the one for Ted in HIMYM.

r/

I can already see you say “BuT sHe LeFt hiM iN fRoNT oF tHe aLTar”.

Exactly because of that!

For the entire series up to that point, what Ted had really shown was that the kind of woman he both wants and needs in his life was one who could actually manipulate him. Women who would genuinely compliment his lifestyle, and vice versa, were not at all suitable for him, as we’d seen from his relationship with Robin.

And you might want to point out that the whole show was just Ted’s one big simping for Robin, as even his kids supposedly pointed out.

Except not. It wasn’t until well after he wasted his last bit of chances with Stella (after they met on the street in the rain well after the failed wedding) that such an impression started being created. Which means that Ted being meant for Robin was just something he kept telling himself after failing to end up with who was actually the one for him, in order to not feel all that bad about it.

I can even pinpoint the exact reason the writers of HIMYM chose to not have both Ted and Stella realize they in fact were the ones for each other that day in the rain. The reason was to create the illusion that Ted’s love life was meant to be more complicated than it should’ve really been. That or they chickened out.

And Stella? What exact reason did she have to leave him in front of the altar? You’ll say she “realized” she was actually still in love with her ex husband.

There’s one tiny detail that does not exactly support the living shit out of that theory – they were separated despite having a child! That relationship was doomed practically even before it started!

This only means that Stella marrying her ex husband was her way of telling Ted “You’ll have to play way harder to get me”, which, knowing Stella’s character, is a lot better way of telling Ted “i love you” than actually telling him “I love you”.

Stella was, by all means, the one for Ted. They both think that.

Kind of a tangent but I never bought Ted as the “protagonist”. He’s incredibly unlikable.

Yep, sloppy writing. Same with Robin and Barney, who were also perfect for each other. They just happened to realise they wouldn’t work for no good reason.

The movie that her… husband or bf (child’s father) made about Ted kinda makes things weird though.

Obviously it makes Ted look like Satan, and I assume she knew about this movie, and let it happen

Been ages since I’ve seen this show, but pretty fucking wild to suggest someone who left him at the altar is the right person for someone.

But then you up the ante and say someone who can “manipulate” him is the perfect fit.

Fuck me. Sounds like you’ve got some issues to work out about relationships.

I hate the whole thing with Robin in there. As a kid I rooted for them, but as an adult, reflecting on it, Stella is arguably a great choice for him, but I also liked the mother.

Robin should have stayed with Barney, they were a better fit imho.

I’ll take anyone over Robin for Ted honestly

Nah, Victoria 1.0 was perfect for Ted.

I never thought that Stella was right for Ted.

Is this what it’s like when non sports people listen to people talk about sports? Like holy shit how does anyone still care about fake relationships from a show that hasn’t been relevant in a decade lol
