My father died in 2001. Before he died he told my sister and I that he and my stepmother had created a trust. One of her 2 children is/was the executor and my sister and I are both to get a sum of money from the estate which is sizeable, at least to us. I did not ask for a copy of the trust. I just determined that she died in 2022.
My stepmother and her children were not at all close to my sister and I.
Do my sister and I have any hope of getting that money? How do we proceed? She lived in California and we live in Missouri.

Easiest way is to approach the executor of the estate for a copy of the Trust and what it says about the money.
While you do have a memory, over 20 years old, of what the father said but you really need to know the details of the Trust.
