Stolen Commission

r/

I worked for a third party retailer that sold a popular carrier’s devices, selling their phones and phone plans. This third party retailer had a POS system for logging the purchases with a special program so payroll knew who would get how much commission. I sold phones to people and reminded them I would be happy to help them with technical issues or questions, just please come ask me and I’ll troubleshoot with them.

For a little precontext, my store was run by 4 employees: a middle manager and 3 key holder sales associates including myself. The POS system allowed for previously saved credentials to be changed by anyone that went into the accounts and just deleted who made the sale, and tied their own credentials to the purchase, without a trail of the original credentials to follow (at least that the owner could not figure out). My coworkers stole my commission answering technical questions for my customers for 3 months in a row going into accounts I had sold devices on, and I was let go for not making the commission goal. (No one was meeting it, we simply didn’t have the foot traffic to each sell $30,000 worth of product, but I sure as eff knew I sold devices that proved I was selling actively to whomever I had the opportunity). My most offending coworker, was saved as “Weasel Bitch stole my Commission” in my phone after he stole the majority of my sales on the days we worked together just the two of us in store. I was almost exclusively stuck opening and closing with him 6 days a week. He always “made commission.” After I was let go, I got a new job and forgot all about him/them.

A few years later, my family wanted to go out for dinner at a local restaurant. Who is our server, but Weasel Bitch. He comes over and recognizes me, we are in his section. He acts all fake friendly just as he did when we worked together. (I should mention, I briefly dated his best friend in highschool and we ended amicably but I knew Weasel was kind to people he respected. I wasn’t one of them). As we were about to get the bill, he asked if he could get my contact info “to catch up,” and I enthusiastically said, “Of course!” And handed him my phone. He typed his number in and handed it back. His whole demeanor changed and he was still cordial but when I looked for his information upon leaving the restaurant, it was gone from my contacts.

Apparently, he didn’t change his number from when we were coworkers and kindly took it upon himself to remove his info from my phone. He still had to be kind and force a smile telling us to have a great night and knew without shadow of a doubt I absolutely knew him for the slimeball he is.

*Edit to add: no tip for thieves.

What’s the revenge? I wouldn’t give them my phone, I would ask for their number and text them or have them call me from their phone. That person was a real a55hole too.

Ugh, that’s just awful, I mean, I’m not one to judge, but stealing commissions is a new low, even for people, I guess, still, at least you know you’re a good person, and that’s worth more than any commission ever could be

Why would you hand the guy your phone?

I never hand anyone my phone. It’s one of my habits.

That other people are okay with that, and do it on a regular basis, worries me. But then again, I have a less than honest family, and manipulative in laws, so maybe my self preservation is more aggressive than most.

I hope you didn’t tip him to get some of that money back.

If people could change who got the commission, why didn’t you just change it back?

What a pointless post. Where was the petty revenge? Was it you being spineless doing nothing other than running into them where they work?

Called them weasel bitch after the mic was already dropped, not a word said, bravo.

I hope you’d didn’t tip him as you’d given him enough money in the past.

Never give a slimeball your phone. You should have added that he wasn’t tipped as per your response in your comments to make it actual revenge.

There’s no revenge here. You got bent over. End of story.

I would NEVER have given him my phone.

I would have gone to his manager though, and explained how he stole commissions at his last job and how I would warn the other waitstaff to make certain he wasn;t stealing anything here.

Also, that you will never dine there again if he is serving, as he cannot be trusted.

I went to a local Mall Jewelers to get our Wedding bands cleaned. While I was waiting, I looked at some other jewelry that was on sale.

The salesgirl was very pleasant, answering my questions, helping me look at affordable items, and helping me match them to the other jewelry I’d bought from them in the past. (They had a record.)

After I selected a few items to match what we had (about $300 worth, nothing too extrvagant, but a bunch of smaller pieces like earrings and a necklace) the assistant manager walked over, made a vague act of looking at the clock, and then told the girl she could go on her break.

As soon as the girl checked out, the AM began to ring me up. When I got the reciept, I saw that hte AM had put hserself down as the salesgirl.

I IMMEDIATELY asked to see the manager. When the Manager came over, I showed him the reciept, explained how the other girl had helped me with everything, then explained how the AM sent her off at checkout and that the AM put herself down for the sale (and commission).

The Manager immediately readjusted the sale, tols the AM she was getting written up, and apologized profusely.

(I also sent an email to the Jeweler with all names involved, explaining how the AM was completely unprofessional, how the salesgirl actually got be to buy more when I was jsut expecting to drop off our bands, and how the Manager was excellent in handling things. I wanted corporate to know what their AM was doing.)

When I went back to pick up my bands, the AM was not seen and they had a new one a few months later.

My spouse and I still go to that salesgirl when we want to get something.

Other than not leaving him a tip, which was only added later, I can’t tell any petty revenge on your part.
