Just full on cold turkey.
Nicotine addiction has two components. The physical addiction, and the mental one.
The physical one will eventually be fully gone if you just don’t smoke. The mental one really only requires you to just tell yourself No, whenever the craving pops up.
And both get better with time.
That’s pretty much all there is to quitting smoking. The people who struggle with it just don’t have the discipline.
I know that people started eating peanuts cashews when they need a ‘pacifier’ in their mouth 🙂
Hypnosis worked for my partner but I have no idea the costs. Personally I smoked cigarettes yearsssss ago and just quit cold turkey. It had such control over me and I was just mentally done being controlled by this silly stick!
I switched to 0 nicotine vapes so I still had the action of vaping without the nicotine, then switched to a metal tube pendant so again I still got the action of vaping something but it’s just air
Use gum to kick the cravings but be controlled about it limit yourself to a piece every hour. Additionally the best thing you can do for any addiction is find a group of people who accept you but are brave enough to hold you accountable. Friends, family, coworkers, whatever it means for you
It took me about 4 or 5 attempts over the course of a few years before I finally successfully quit smoking. One thing I’ve learned is if you’re not ready to quit you’re probably not going to succeed.
To help me I used a Nicorette inhaler

The downside is you’ll need to kick that too.
If you’re truly ready, you’ll be able to kick the habit, if you’re not ready though, it might not be worth the stress to try.
What made me decide to quit smoking was that I heard your body can completely recover if you quit by the time you hit 30. That was the driving force behind my decision and having that driving force made it so much easier than my past attempts.
If you have a nicotine addiction, use the nicotine patch. It makes it SO much easier!
Mental addiction might require chewing gum
Suck air from straws TS really helped someone I knew
It was a combination of diet changes, change in routine and lots of exercise and showers, plus over brushing my teeth to get me to quit. It took a few attempts, but eventually stuck for good.
As for diet, I limited sugar and processed food and upped my protein. I had a fairly healthy diet to begin with, but you’d be surprised at how much sugar you consume when you actively don’t think you are, and sugar triggers cravings.
Change in routine. I stopped having my cup of coffee first thing. I instantly wanted to smoke as soon as I poured a cup. Instead I started drinking a glass of water before my coffee and started checking my emails and reading the news before coffee as well. Doing all of this while smoking was a habit for years. After dinner I would go for a walk and listen to music to drown out my brain screaming to smoke.
Anytime I was at home and idle if a craving kicked in I would brush my teeth. In the first few weeks I had some very sore gums and ended up switching to using a waterpik instead of over brushing. That and jumping in the shower helped a lot.
I had an easier time not giving into a craving when I wasn’t at home. Lots of stimulation made it easier to fight the urge. At home I read a lot more because I could easily lose an hour in a good book. I even started writing again.
Good luck!
I smoked cigarettes from age 18 to 31. I had switched around different brands and chewed tobacco along the way too, had had periods where I stopped for months. But when I made the decision to quit for good, I started using nicotine pouches. In my research, I’ve found that nicotine salt is free of all the carcinogens that come with tobacco, so it was an easy choice for me. I started using Zyn’s, and I’m now almost 6 years completely off cigarettes. I still use Zyns a few times a day, mostly after eating, but I go without them from time to time. I have no urge to ever smoke again and I feel as though I could stop Zyns altogether if I wanted, I just choose not to for now. Of course it’s gonna be different at first, you’re not gonna be used to it and you might get a weird head change and feel sick, and they are going to feel like they are burning the inside of your lip at first. But it passes, and the longer you go without smoking or vaping, the easier it gets. The nicotine pouches kept withdrawals at bay and after the first week, I was totally fine.
If you’re willing to do the work and go through the transition period, I highly recommend finding a brand of nicotine pouches that you like. They worked for me.
Either way though, proud of you for wanting to quit. You got this.
You can try patches to reduce the withdrawals. Some people just go cold turkey
that is a great start. Do you want to stop completely or just not feel antsy for it during class? If you just don’t want to feel antsy, take deep breathes or a sip of water whenever you feel the urge. A lot of the times we act more out of habit that actual dependency and our hands really are just used to doing something. Some stretches or like I said a drink of water, anything to just feel something even if it’s for a second.
Chewing gum, drinking coffee, walking, exercise, eating raw vegan music too
Replace the habit with a different, better habit like going to work or the gym
Gum, straws, lollipops, and grit. It’s the only way.But be aware that the urge never fully goes away. I quit in 2011 and still wake up panicking after vivid dreams that I was smoking again.
Good start, leaving it at home.can you lower the nicotine delivered, so you smoke as much, but get less nicotine? Start there, then just try to taper off.
OR, you spend a day off work vaping so much you get sick of it? Think of some early overdrinking. With jaeger, or whiskey, you drank too much and puked, and would never touch it again. Same idea.
OR, you want electricty to help, look up, ” PAVLOK” good luck!
