Location: Waterford, MI
hi, so my partner and I moved recently and today we went to unload our climate controlled storage unit in Waterford where we had been keeping most of our belongings. Upon opening it, the whole thing was covered in mold, easily destroying $10k worth of stuff, including priceless items that are irreplaceable.
We looked around and the hallway containing the doors to the units is covered in black mold, so obviously this place is absolutely not climate controlled at all. I have to imagine all of the units are compromised. All our belongings were wrapped and stored with silica gel packets or other moisture-preventing measures.
My question is: should this be a matter for an attorney? Do we have a leg to stand on? Our house is now empty because everything we owned was in there.
Thanks!
