stressed, scared, anxious american

r/

hey does anyone have any advice for dealing with the constant stress, anxiety, and unease of being a young adult in america right now?

i’m 24 and this is not how i imagined life would be here. working full time, got a higher paying job, and still can’t support myself.

i can’t understand why caring for other people is controversial. it breaks my fucking heart that this is america’s culture now.

i’m scared for my fellow human. ICE is terrifying. the BBB is disgustingly and inhumane.

i feel helpless even doing the things i can control.

genuinely any advice to cope would be helpful. i threw up yesterday from stress.

Not gonna lie, the only ones not scared right now are the idiots that don’t realize what’s going on. My advice is to keep informed, save what you can, and light up a joint if you can.

Have you considered not being a young adult in America, right now?

Get involved locally and be the change you want to see in the world. Check out Indivisible. If you want to change the direction we are heading in, we need all the help we can get no matter how small it may seem.

Taking action will help you gain control, somewhat, over what is happening.

Make certain you vote and stay engaged politically.

I’m 20 and I feel like I look around and don’t understand how the people around me are so positive and hopeful.
