In my opinion there isn’t any good reason to have strobe lights in concerts/festivals/clubs/etc. If you have epilepsy they’re dangerous, if you have migraines they hurt and if you have none of those they’re still irritating, they hurt your eyes and quite honestly they look really tacky! There is no situation I can see where a strobe light can possibly be better than, say, a floodlight for a brief burst or a wash and some moving PAR cans and/or lasers for longer effects, and I say they should be phased out of lighting design and left as a “what on earth were these lighting designers of the past thinking?” relic.
