My boyfriend and I are planning to get married but he wants to change his last name first. He can’t stand his father and we don’t want any ties to him. We want a name we’re proud of. And you know.. it’s kind of cool being the root of a family name thats never existed in our bloodlines before. But we don’t know what to choose, we want something representative of us and that also sounds good. We’re from the US. But i’m German/Cherokee and he’s Swedish.
If it also helps we both have 3 syllables in our first names, 1 in our middle names and currently 2 our last names.
Meanings could help too.. we’re very earthy… spiritual…
I’ll bring up your suggestions with him and see if we agree on one we like.

What do you want to say with your surname?

You could take a Swedish last name and translate to Cherokee or vice versa.
So like Öberg or Granlund in Cherokee.
Or just create something spiritual/earthy related like Jordkraft (Earth force/power), Norrsken (Northern lights) or Solstråle (Sunbeam).
