Sunbathing in my own garden.

r/

I live in the countryside, no near neighbours with a very enclosed garden, I like to sunbathe with no clothes on. My partner doesn’t like me doing it because they are worried that planes/helicopters and satellites(??) can see me. I don’t particularly care if they see me, I’m allowed my private garden. Is that right though? Could anyone see me?

the technology exists but that doesn’t mean it will be focused on you. do what you like.

The exact laws vary from place to place, but in most of the Western World the general idea is that if somebody can only see you while literally flying above your property then you are not doing anything wrong.

I mean laws vary from place to place about where you can be nude on private property. But if impossible for the public on the ground to see you, you’re generally allowed to. (ie neighbors far away or behind big trees and bushes).

Satellites can’t see you, planes and helicopters could if they were low enough, but if they are that low you would hear them lol.

Maybe tell your partner you will bring a towel out and whenever a plane or helicopter goes by you will cover yourself up? Might make them feel better.

    Is r/googleearthGW a thing?

for someone in a plane or helicopter to actually notice that you’re not wearing any clothes, they’d have to be very low. And it they’re low, they’re probably looking forward to see where they’re going and not looking down.

Before my parents bought my childhood home (similar area, very rural with neighbors at least one field away) it was owned by an older couple and the wife liked to sunbathe nude. For a couple years after my parents owned the house planes would fly a bit low over the property trying to catch a peek.

You might get similar treatment, you might end up with dedicated peepers. My only worry would be that pictures could be taken and posted online. We used to get people trying to sell overhead pictures of our land to us, so there’s always a chance.

Just watch out for the neighbor kid’s drone.

Your garden is quite private based on everything you’ve said. People in planes couldn’t even tell if you were naked, if they were even looking down at the right moment anyway. Satellites could take pictures, but they aren’t taking pictures with enough detail to see your face or anything meaningful besides MAYBE being able to tell you were naked.

All said and done, do what you like. It’s your garden and it’s 100% shielded from accidental peeping. If someone wanted to see you naked they would have to fly a drone over your garden or trespass onto your property, but both of those actions carry legal consequences for the perpetrator.

The amount spy space tech costs I would expect they have more important things to gaze upon…your probably safe unless you live near chinese or Russian secrets

Im sunbathing in my back garden naked right now. If someone want to peep through the fence, they’ll have something staring back at them for sure. Your land, your rules I say

It’s all fun and games until Google Maps picks you up and some YouTuber finds you.

We really can’t make a solid answer without seeing the scenario.

    Go for it!

You seem comfortable in your own body.
If the concern is the comfort of others, it sounds like they’d have to be making an effort to see you.
If the concern is legality, it sounds like you have a reasonable expectation of privacy. Any infringement on that would likely be the fault of the other party. (Also, who would bother to prosecute or enforce)
If the issue is your partner: your body, your rules.

It is possible to get indecent exposure issues on your own property. Anything that can see from the street or another property or the air is considered in public.

    What’s your address again?

Might not hurt to give us your address. So we can be sure your not breaking any laws…….:)

I’m so confused, does garden mean something different where you are. Because I’m picturing someone laying naked in a bunch of tomato plants and it doesn’t seem comfortable.

Put up a privacy fence. Enjoy!

In theory someone could maybe see you. It sounds like a minimal risk.

The question really is just – do you care? If you don’t, I’d question why your partner cares. Based on the facts presented in OP it just is like, ok, do what makes you comfortable. It doesn’t sound like you’re doing anything illegal.

it’s a control thing on their part
