This also goes for those who are constantly telling others they just gotta listen to some lecture/album, or watch some movie/series, but the book people are the worst. These people think that others need to have the same experiences they do with everything, and it’s fucking annoying. I get it comes up in conversation from time to time, but I’ve known many people who bring it up almost every time I see them. In all honesty, I find them to be egotistical, self-indulgent, and wannabe Ted-Talk lecturers and intellectuals. Enjoy your books, inspirational speakers, movies, plays, etc. and leave me the hell out of it.

For me it’s when people can’t take the hint that you don’t want to talk anymore and keep yapping away. Also, when people see you walking away or know you’re 20ft away in a different room but they can’t help themselves and want to small talk but expect you to care enough to stop what you’re doing to come bullshit about nothing in particular.

I’ve gotten that with Disney (“You HAVE to watch this new Disney film, they show off your culture in it!” [while I can just go home and experience my culture, why would I watch a movie to experience my own ethnicity?]), not with swifties. Also with certain gamers who say “You HAVE to try [x]! It’s so good.” I think I’ve gotten it with The Outer Wilds, Risk of Rain (which I couldn’t get into), and SOMA. Idk, with video games, I rather just… play games I find myself than from other people because I don’t think I relate to most people’s tastes, although SOMA’s okay. One game that was really a total miss for me was Balatro which I own because people kept saying I should play it but I don’t enjoy playing at all.
