Talk me INTO working for a big, “dangerous” city.. or you can try to talk me out of it I guess.

  • City name is gonna be left out for privacy

I’ve always had interest in law enforcement since I was a kid. There’s only a couple agencies I’ve been drawn to.. but the biggest one is a widely regarded as one of the most dangerous cities in America. Rough pay (they’re getting raises soon), dangerous city, etc.

I’ve heard it all… from everyone. But let me switch things up, how about some of you try to talk me INTO It.

Despite all of the above, I really wanna work for a big city, and it’s one of the only ones close to home. I want the big city experience for my personal life, but if I ever lateral to a small department, I want the ability to have the experience from the bigger city.

From the officers themselves, haven’t heard much bad from them. Basic complaint is pay and it’s semi dangerous. The department internally seems to be functional and fine.

I want to work for a city where I feel like I’m genuinely helping people. Fighting violent crime.. not just citing people for tint.

Talk me INTO (or out of I guess..) working for a big, semi dangerous city. It might be a little hard without the city name, and that’s fine, but try just a bigger city in general then.

Thanks in advance. I thought this would be something unique to post here.

Me and my girlfriend We’re parked car off in gas station parking lot, eating food and then police arrived they said someone called and said we were doing drugs which we weren’t. They made me hop out the car, and given breathalyzer which I easily passed but then said they calling someone to do more tests. Another cop shows up and tells me they’re doing standard field sobriety test (SFST). I work long hrs at my work and also have 2 diseases diabetes/MS which i told them, but they didn’t care. I was very cold standing outside the whole time and told officers that too, they disregarded this and continued with test. After completing 3 tests I overheard the officer saying I failed one test and was given a 24hr driving prohibition. Also, they searched my car and found nothing. Now this will be on my record and makes me look bad. Should I fight this because I don’t feel it’s fair and they just power tripping?
