It’s nothing awful, just something of ephiamy. I’m a caretaker for my 80 y/o dad. On my days of peace I go to my bar to relax with ear buds in. I’m 34 and after a beer I can chat.
Today I had a conversation with a man who uses a walker, is late 70s, and came to the bar to, “try it out.” After an hour he left and I wanted to cry. He is a sweet man living alone and decided to swing to the spot we talked because he wanted to try something different.
Nothing to go in detail of our story, very on key, bringing up his family, and how he lives alone. Usually it’s all exaggerated, but he seemed sincere, relaxed, and happy to hear him vent.
With his walker he left and I opened the door for him leaving. True off my chest, if I’m alone in 40 years, just end it. As said I’m my dads caretaker and it’s hard, but I know I’m loved.
I hope he is OK, and if he swings in again I’ll be his bar buddy.

This is probably me in 30 years tbh.
He’s looking for a place to meet people and community. I’m thankful he met you today!
You made his day. 🙂
I work with seniors and little interactions like this can make their day. Thanks for being someone friendly in a new place!
