I genuinely do not understand why everyone constantly whines and moans about the caps now being tethered to the bottles. It keeps the cap from accidentally falling down and getting dirty and assures that you don’t misplace it somewhere.
Everyone I know keeps complaining that it “gets in the way while you’re drinking” and then proceed to press the cap against their nose or their chin. If you twist the cap to the side and press it against the corner of your mouth, it’s literally not an issue.

Yada yada, euroslave
I don’t get the people who can’t drink with the cap still attached, it’s really not that big a deal, you’re don’t have the lid on your face for hours on end, it’s less then 10 seconds. You can deal with a small amount of discomfort for less then 10 seconds.
We already have a lot of information about how bad plastic and litter is for the environment and yet people are still complaining about how bad the solutions are.
Do you not like these bottles? that’s fine, buy a reusable one then. You’ll probably save money in the long run.
And OP – as someone with ADHD who is VERY prone to losing things, the fact that I can’t lose the lids is actually so helpful, I 100% agree with you on that point.
The first genuinely unpopular opinion that I agree with Ive seen in a while.
I never manage to close bottles with tethered caps, I need to tear it off to make sure it doesn’t leak. I am tragically bad at opening and closing bottles though
It never even gets in the way when I drink. Have people lost the art of drinking from a bottle without their mouth fully over it?
I think there are good and bad tethered caps, but even the bad ones are a slight annoyance at worst.
The ones with little more slack or that just stay folded to the side are great.
But there are those that want to spring back closed, those are the bad ones
What do you mean misplace it bruv.
You open the bottle, you drink from the bottle, you close the bottle. As easy as that.
Tethered bottle caps are the worst, man. Also, don’t come at me with the recycling/littering stuff, when big corporations do their share (which ain’t gonna happen any time soon) I’ll do mine, but I, on moral principles, refuse to go through the hoop while some rich mf keeps profiting while not giving a f*ck
No, they aren’t and it is one of the really dumb things the EU secretly forced upon us! These idiots can’t get daylight savings time done, which can literally save lives!, but over night they decide to do this idiocy.
They should instead be going after the plastic manufacturers and limiting the amount that they can produce.
Not sure if it’s the size but our local recycling facility doesn’t want any lids or caps. Even if they are screwed on tightly.
Tethered caps are a pretty good idiot detector. And I’d sooner have these than the ‘ecological’ solution some event venues have picked, which is that everything is sold in a can you can’t close at all.
i just hate that at the same time that such system was introduced caps became more difficult to screw, and yeah, it’s caused by the cap being tied
