The music is straight up copied from a popular song a few years ago, and from I can hear it’s basically just her saying the word anxiety over and over. Hearing it everywhere now but personally think it’s a dreadful song.

It’s called sampling a song and it’s more then just copying the same word over and over again. That’s just the climax of the chorus
Is that the song where I scream at the top of my lungs and rock back and forth until I pass out from anxiety?
If so, I know that song!
This happens when people are too lazy or lack the creativity to come up with original ideas. Worse, simple-minded consumers buy these copies, believing them to be original, making it even easier for these so-called “artists” to profit from recycled work. Plagiarism is bad enough, but just wait until AI takes over, and true originality disappears altogether.
I like Dochii and its definitley not my favorite song by her but have you ever heard of the concept of sampling? You’ll be surprised how many songs use instrumentation and parts from other songs that came before…
It’s because it’s speaking the spoken word into existence.
This song is a curse.
I turn it off instantly. Also, rather listen to Goyte’s version instead.
“Somebody I used to know” I think that’s the name
I thought It was catchy for a few seconds when I heard It on a short video but when I searched for the full song Its just so awful, only thing going for It is the chorus and the rest of the song sounds mediocre and forgettable.
There’s a great likelihood you have a song that has sampled, or taken inspiration from another song. Happen a LOT more than people pay attention to.
I don’t like the song myself, but Doechii has admitted this song really wasn’t meant to see the light of day as a full release and only did it when her career was first really starting.
I don’t mind samples and covers because some are good in their own ways and almost hold a candle to the original.
Juliana Chahayed has some pretty good ones.
Me personally, the Anxiety song sounds like ass. I love music and I’m open minded but should have chose a different sample. Not saying a gotye sample isn’t possible but me personally, it wasn’t it.
I guess for me the song holds significant value and plus its commonly associated with relationships or failed ones etc. The song doesn’t really feel creative enough to me. Just using an iconic sound for catchy mediocre song.
It’s a super subjective thing though but covers and samples should actually add something and do something new. I just don’t feel like they used the sound as best as they could have or should have chose something else.
My brutally honest opinion though is that they took a genuinely nice song and shit on it with mediocre lyrics.
Gotye did it both first and better.
I honestly don’t mind sampled songs (in fact a lot of my faves include sampling) but Anxiety is honestly so bad.
Yeah it’s a thing and a half. When I was younger I heard a lot of rap artists use part of music I listened to as a kid. Straight up samples from the original. Now I liked the original and would have been really happy if they admitted to it because the original had a lovely message that would go so well with the song and add another layer to it. But they didn’t.
I thought she was just a tiktoker signing? I’m not even sure she legally sampled the song. I agree it’s quite annoying. It’s one thing to sample parts of other songs, another to completely copy the entire song. Majority of songs nowadays are straight copies of songs that aren’t even that old. Like Ava Max’ “songs”.
It annoys me but I think it sounds like the improv session it is. I saw the video of the artist making it and it’s just her sitting on her bed jamming.
