r/

By being able to link urls in your text like this, people can easily hide links to malware and malicious websites. We should just paste the url into our posts or comments as is

Please remember what subreddit you are in, this is unpopular opinion. We want civil and unpopular takes and discussion. Any uncivil and ToS violating comments will be removed and subject to a ban. Have a nice day!

I chose not to click your link.

Problem solved without making new rules.

  3. ScoobyDone Avatar

Just hover over it and it shows you the URL. Easy peasy

  4. NoahtheRed Avatar

Do you just randomly click every word?

  5. AgniousPrime Avatar

It’s a rickroll. Your post’s thumbnail gives it away

  6. WhateverEndeavor Avatar

Okay, what did you click and how much did Geek Squad make off of you?

  7. kirstensnow Avatar

You don’t have to click the link

  8. TopCaterpiller Avatar

You know you can see where the link goes before you click it, right?

  9. LockenCharlie Avatar

You can see the full adress when you hover it with your mouse in your browser on mobile you can hold.

As long as you don’t download or install anything with your admin password, no link will harm you.

It also more user-friendly to place links in text. The table of content in PDFs is also linked, but you will never doubt that it will take you to a virus instead of the page. So would you also avoid digital books?
