It’s on par with the GoT finale for me as a gigantic fumble of an extremely popular piece of media, it’s sloppy, hastely written with character development getting tossed out the window. There’s so much to hate but I’ll focus on what annoys me the most. (Spoiler warning for both shows)
I honestly think Daenerys had a better good guy turned bad arc than Eren, at least the writers gave the character screen time so you can actually see how their descent into madness plays out
But with Eren, almost all of his development was offscreen, keep in mind this is literally the main character of the show and someone who had the most screen time up to this point, they somehow thought it was a good idea to put him in the back burner during his most crucial moments development wise, for what? To build intrigue?
And then it turns out it doesn’t even matter much in the end because it’s revealed in the most painful expo-dump that he secretly cared about his friends and wanted to make them look like good guys by killing 80% of the world, including most of his other friends. What a great plan. Oh and he’s also Dr Manhattan Jr and doesn’t have much control of his action, including when he killed his mom. Because time paradox or whatever
Doesn’t sound convoluted and messy enough? He also reveals that he’s just a stupid teenager who doesn’t know shit and somehow ended doing mass genocide I guess, he literally goes “don’t mind me, I’m just a dumb teenager with a crush”
This is just the tip of the ice berg on why I hate this ending. It doesn’t get nearly as much ridicule as GoT when it’s up there in terms of character assassinations and rushed half-assed writing. Most people are somehow mixed on it when it’s a gigantic, stinky flaming piece of turd.

ah yes, the same series where fans created their own alternate ending because they didn’t like the OG ending.
your opinion is not unpopular.
I don’t know anything about this but it sounds based
maybe a little rushed, but i actually loved the finale
It wasn’t that good, but not nearly as bad as the GoT finale. Eren’s arc was pretty clear though.
Honestly, my biggest gripe with the AOT finale is that Ymir had no fucking agency except for a single choice.
Like, I enjoyed it (at least the anime’s version where Armin has that speech of “I’m going to hell too”). It has its issues, but my biggest one is Ymir.
Anything after season 3 was garbage. I didn’t like any of the new characters or the storylines beyond the shore. The show was much better when it was just the Survey Squad vs Titans.
Average anime take.
It could’ve been better, but imo it also could’ve been a LOT worse (given the state of the majority of fan-made alternate endings, of which I’ve seen zero that actually made the ending better rather than worse)
I’d probably rate it like a 7.5/10 personally.
This is a popular opinion on the AoT reddit, downvoted.
I partially disagree because the last season really pulls the entire show into perspective.
From the beginning of the series, you are lost just like everyone in Paradise island. You see the cruel deaths and obviously root for Eren and the gang.
Then the last season it switches and you are placed in the perspective of the others and don’t understand what Eren is doing. Did he really turn to the other side and is helping Zeke? You go from cheering Eren on to questioning his motive. Maybe it was “predictable” given his anger throughout the series but then they give you the scene where he trash talks Mikasa and beats up Armin.
Then the rumbling happens and now viewers are split between two sides. They show the brutal deaths of everyone outside Paradise Island and really makes you question what he’s doing when they introduce the beggar kid. But at the same time, you saw from the beginning of the series the brutal death of people within Paradise Island. Do you cheer on these deaths or condemn it?
Maybe I just like the fact that the show isn’t so one sided where the protagonist is right and you cheer them on the entire season and they are almost always morally right or chooses the right side. AoT makes you question whether there even is a “right side.”
I didn’t like the ending because I am biased and wished Eren got the ending I was hoping for throughout the series. But he kind of did using the founding titan’s power to live a full life with Mikasa in their mind. Though the post credit scene shows that humanity won’t change, the cycle just happens all over again.
He basically did dr.strange and saw the only future where eldians don’t get eradicated.
Went through with it because to him, his friends are more important than 80% of strangers who would kill them given the chance.
Just say you didn’t pay attention throughout attack on titan and where just interested in the fights. It’s okay but you’re factualy inaccurate/wrong about so much of the story.
not unpopular there was a huge controversy and no it’s not just manga fans although it seems anime fans are less likely to hate it
