The crust is the best part of pizza

r/

The crust is better than the rest of the pizza. I do not care if it’s got nothing on it or has seasonings and garlic butter, It’s ALL better. Infact i worked at a pizza place and purposely made my pizzas with extra crust.

I enjoy a nice crust. I don’t know if it’s the best part but I know it’s good enough that if other people feel this way I don’t blame’em. YOU do you ENJOY that CRUST

I just love it. And i am sure it is not an unpopular opinion.

hot take but kinda poetic — the crust is like the quiet kid in class, slept on but lowkey carrying the whole vibe. it’s structure, texture, and if it’s got that crunch? game over. you don’t need toppings when the base already slaps.

Just eat garlic/cheese bread and call it a day then.

    Breadsticks exist.

If the Pizza is warm. The crust is good, if the pizza is cold, I hate the crust.

Meh. A crust can make or break a pizza, but the toppings are the best part. But then again, I think that the noodles are the least interesting part of most pasta dishes and that the bread is most useless part of a sandwich. They are all simply delivery devices for flavor.

I hate the crust. I usually ask to leave that part out when I order a pizza. Just cook everything else but I want the sauce on the side.

I don’t agree but my god do i love the attitude here. This is a proper unpopular opinion. God speed!

I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but if a pizza has a shitty crust it is, by default, a shitty pizza. Great toppings can’t rescue a terrible crust, and a great crust can’t redeem shitty toppings.

  15. HistorianOrdinary833 Avatar

Why don’t you make a pizza with only crust? Like a long swirl of only crust?

Oh, I guess you still do want the non-crust part.

  16. Available-Duty-4347 Avatar

I completely agree. It’s what makes the pizza. Everything else works to ruin that vehicle.

I grew up in NY with this motto but I didn’t believe in it until much later in life. Now, extra thick crust and extra sauce is a must or gtfo. Those 2 things will make or break a pizza for me.

Lost count but reckon I’ve seen the same opinion at least 20 times on here.

My people. I am not a fan of red sauce as it gives me bad heartburn, so I love to eat what I dub ‘cracker pizza’. Papa John’s or Domino’s specifically has the best, but it’s just a thin and crispy crust with requested light sauce and only cheese. Then the whoooole pizza is basically crust! The BEST.

  21. DeeDee719 Avatar

It can make or break the pizza, that’s for sure.

Personally, I dislike bare crust on the edges (cornicione). Not only it is bland and lacks taste, but it’s also often burnt and large bubbles of air form in it, which can make it barely edible.

The crust besides the edges is there to make pizza stay in one piece and to be a filling meal and not to taste good. It’s just weird bread — nothing out of the ordinary.

Additionally, thick crust makes pizza taste worse, overly caloric and just is generally inferior.

    So…really you just want breadsticks

I won’t go as far as saying it’s the best part, but it is criminally underrated and I judge everyone who doesn’t eat it

  26. sam9876 Avatar

What’s the point of the pizza then just make bread at this point

  27. brian_w147 Avatar

    argh no 😭

The best part of the crust is that it’s easy to dip in ranch.

I’m with you, the crust is great. I’m not sure if it’s the best, but if it’s the worst, in general the pizza sucks.

This is why I stopped buying pizzas from Papa Johns, the dough just isn’t good anymore. They changed something.
