I get it, when something works, make more. But the Despicable Me/ Minions franchise started forgetting how to make a movie enjoyable to watch. Despicable Me 1, 2, 3 and Minions 1 were incredible, and easily one of Illumination’s best movies, if not the best. But Minions 2 was mid and felt pretty unconnected to the rest of the movies (the vicious 6 are not developed well, like at all), and Despicable Me 4 was just trash; the only thing good about Despicable Me 4 was Pharrell Williams’ song “Double Life”. Maxime le Mal was a cliché and boring villain, and probably one of the worst villains in Illumination’s movies (it got a 56% on Rotten Tomatoes). So it should have stopped at Despicable Me 3 to avoid any bad following movies.

DM 1, in fact, is the only other Illumination movie a lot of people agree is good

It should never have been a franchise, one was plenty
It should have stopped when Agnes and Roy posted memes with minions talking about drinking from garden hoses, rotary phones and acting like life was harder in the 70s and 80s….
In retrospect. I wish they would have stopped at the drawing board. Could have spared us all the joy of minions memes.
