The seasons rank in this order: 1. Fall, 2. Winter, 3. Spring, 4. Summer (ew)

r/

I should preface this by saying I live in British Columbia, Canada and so my reasoning may differ from yours depending on how the seasons are for your area.

My reasons:

Fall – Fall is amazing because the weather is PERFECT. 10-20 degree Celsius (50-70F) is perfection for me. You can wear a sweater and pants or you can wear shorts and a t shirt and the options for clothing is so much more vast. Going outside doesn’t cause me to be cold or sweat instantly and I can enjoy outdoor activities like camping, sports or anything really since the weather is kind. Also I love Halloween and fall colours/seasonal decorations.

Winter – In my part of Canada winter isnt stupid cold all the time. 10% of the winter its stupid cold but the rest of the winter its a couple degrees below freezing and a simple coat or thicker sweater suffices and doenst make one suffer. The winter activities like Skiing and Skating are super fun and the festive season near Christmas is unmatched. So while the weather isnt perfect, I appreciate the cold weather as a Canadian and I embrace it and have grown to love winter a lot. (plus time off from work for xmas)

Spring – Firstly the weather. The weather for the first month of spring is great and similar to fall where its not to cold or hot but come May and June it starts to heat up to uncomfortable levels. There are no significant events in spring except easter which I don’t celebrate since im a single dude. I also have allergies which ravage my body in spring hardly allowing me to enjoy the weather anytime i go outside.

Summer – Disgusting, putrid, hell on earth heat. July and August make my life a living hell. Constant 30-40 degree weather with the sun beating down on me. Gray clothes stand no chance the second you stand outside. Walking from my office to my car ends with me looking like i took a swim in a lake. There is no significant events for a working adult and no fun outdoor activities besides maybe going to the lake here and there if you are willing to get beat up by the sun. I hate the summer so much here in Canada because contrary to popular belief the summer gets insanely hot. One summer we had heat rivaling the Nevada desert for weeks on end…

Someone please let me know if you agree because everyone I talk to HATES winter and loves Summer and I couldn’t agree less.

Well, this is literally correct, all of it, in the exact order

I agree with you. Upstate NY resident here. This spring has been brutal with the rain though.

Until you’ve lived in a few places it’s hard to really get into your head how much the seasons are different in different places. When I lived on Vancouver Island I was hard pressed to even call winter winter. It was really more like rainy season and then it was mostly just beautiful the rest of the year. I still hated winter because it was dark with heavy clouds for months. Unless someone is in your same climate talking about seasons with internet strangers is kind of meaningless because we all have biases about what they are like based off of our own climate.

Spring. Fall. Summer. Winter. I detest extreme temps.

switch winter and fall and this is correct (florida summers suck. i miss michigan. so much.)

I have to downvote just because it’s straight up correct.

This would be reasonable in most cases but I am absolutely floored that you would say that from BC, although I’m guessing you’re from the Interior.

But I live in Seattle and summers here feel like the greatest on planet earth, and Vancouver feels the same. I’ve lived in SoCal and Arizona and grew up despising Summers and still hate heat, but these summers are wonderful.

    1. Spring- it just starts to warm- and flowers bloom. I get to garden.
    2. Fall- perfect weather and the leaves changing colors 👌.
    3. Summer- swimming weather: 10/10
      Sweat due to humility:0/10
    4. Winter- cold, pain in ankles, roads SUCK, and it never snows on Christmas.

I’m over on the other side of the Rockies (in Alberta) and don’t use the 4 season system because there’s no sensible way to do it here that doesn’t either make winter way longer than anything else or lump two completely different seasons into “spring”. I use a translated version of the 6 Cree seasons because they’re appropriate for the region.

    Here’s my ranking:

Fall (September-October): Dry, medium temperature weather that isn’t trying to kill me and isn’t a sign that a fire will imminently be trying to kill me. Beautiful leaves. I’m winning in fall.

Freezing (November-December): The best of the cold half of the year. Holidays obviously help, but it’s also generally a little drier than January so there isn’t extreme snow buildup. This is what I mean when I say I’m a “winter person”

Spring (May-June): Better temperatures than summer, everything is alive. This is what a warm season is archetypally “meant” to be despite fall generally being my winner for the warm half of the year. Shares rain with summer, but doesn’t exclusively send it in the form of 10 minute nuclear thunderstorms. If it’s dry, fire can be a problem, but there are enough redeeming qualities to get these months out of the “actively evil” category.

Winter (January-February): The snow buildup tires me out and it’s too cold sometimes but it’s better than the actively evil seasons.

Summer (July-August): Hail, fire, thunderstorms, +30, a tornado that one time, annoying people everywhere, go away

Melting (March-April): Afternoons above freezing and nights below turn the built up snow into something that will destroy your shoes on the way home from work and break your neck in the morning. I made myself be born premature just so I wouldn’t have to have my birthday in March.

If you’re from the interior in BC I can understand not loving summer, but cold, wet and dark winters are absolutely awful in the lower mainland.

Summer can dissappear forever and I would celebrate every single day. Hot, humid, BUGS, lasts forever and I HATE how much weirdos LOVE summer. They can go to hell and enjoy it.
