The world sucks and I made a mistake on thr internet.

r/

So never ever ever show your face on the internet.
Long story short I started chatting with this woman who said she was 23f. We were getting hot and heavy over text and I sent some pictures. Turns out she wanted to post them to a minor abuse page and black mail me.
Never again.
I have lost all faith in humanity 💔

I know I’m the idiot for trusting someone on the internet. I feel stupid enough already.

I blocked her deleted the chats but she had them saved already. At the end of the day I haven’t done anything wrong and the people in my life know who I am.

So really a psa don’t ever show your face or nudes on the internet unless you are willing to potentially loose everything.

dont send nudes to people you dont know atleast you didn’t pay her anything (i hope)

Have you looked into pressing charges? I’m not a lawyer but this seems illegal

If it makes you feel any better there are a load of documentaries out there that talk about how this is sometimes just a scam for money and they don’t actually post them. Apparently there are call centers of old dudes in some foreign country hunting young people on sites in order to do this. I wouldn’t waste a cent on this (supposed) girl, and IF anything comes of it hold your head high and own it. We all make mistakes and whoever judges you is not someone you need in your life anyway.

Revenge porn is illegal. If you have any identifying information for her turn her in.

Extortion and sextortion are major cyber threats and result in significant individual cash losses, broken family relationships and has led to more than one teen suicide. Avoid any of this. They are never hot women reaching out to you. They’ll say anything to get your money.

Report it to police and forget about it, you’ll be alright.

I deleted everything i clouding my Facebook and Instagram. She didn’t know my real name at least.

Bro don’t even send nudes to people you know. Don’t take them and have them in your camera roll. You’re taking a risk having them at all.

  10. Clankyashes Avatar

Lesson learned. I was able gullible idiot.

  11. Puzzled_Spinach7023 Avatar

Everything is AI these days. Probably not even your pictures (as far as the world needs to know).

The anxiety this has caused me. Has taught me a good lesson.

we all are entitled by data privacy, might as well consult a legal counsel..

Its hard to but I wouldn’t think too much of it. A lot of these people are only looking for quick money

The way I see it . Anything done in the dark come to light. If you know you did nothing wrong , then you have nothing to worry about. The person who posted this, people will know who is in the wrong

You’re good dude. They were trying to scam you. It’s a scare tactic. In my state a child committed suicide because of the same thing that was done to you. Only to find out his photos were never put on the internet and they had absolutely no way of blackmailing him. But he was 17 and didn’t know better. Look it up South Carolina is trying to pass a law to have these people tracked and convicted. And also to protect these innocent people from these scammers. Sorry you had to learn this way but you’re fine they have nothing on you.

So you’re out there on the online… naked? Eh, could be worse.

The research I’ve done there really isn’t anything the police can do. So I’m going g to have to keep my eyes peeled if anything g does come out

I had the same thing happen to me. They sent me the screenshots and told me to send them money or they were going to send everything to my family and friends. I said “go ahead, a dick pic and a freaky conversation isn’t going to ruin shit for me lol” I know girls I’ve dated and filmed stuff with girls that’s deep in the archives 😂😂😂

  21. drawingmentally Avatar

This is not your fault, you’re a victim. I’m sorry that that happened to you.

  22. Bob-3348 Avatar

If she said she was 23 there must be a written record so in any case you risk nothing

  23. AakKiinYol Avatar

sounds suspicious we all have pics socials with names i feel like you tried to do something and got caught now trying to act as you being set up but yes kids will believe you wont work in real life if its true just saying

  24. yourshyblonde Avatar

Awww that’s really sad, sorry to hear that someone has done that to you. Don’t lose faith, not everyone is an absolute scumbag like that

  25. TinkerTasker22 Avatar

Everyone makes mistakes and honestly, I judge the person who releases the photos not the person in the photos. I actually try never to intentionally look at photos that someone did not want to release, and refuse to look at pictures of nudes that a friend might want to show me of someone they just started dating. I explained to them how they would feel if someone did this to them without permission.

  26. be_my_mentor Avatar

Head on to r/scams, OP this is a common recurrence.

  27. RoyalAd3105 Avatar

Trust me they couldn’t care enough to carry out the threat.

  28. Johnny6507 Avatar

I had the same thing happen to me. unfortunately for her, i spent the next 45 minutes of nonstop, blowing up her phone with text messages and phone calls. She had told me of a traumatic event, and I went to town. Blaming that person’s suicide on her saying she was a huge disgrace and disappointment and she was the reason for the suicide. I was vicious, like horribly vicious…. Then, I became super sweet, then vicious again. Ultimately, she apologized and asked if I would just stop…. NEVER heard a word again from her…. Just act more crazy than they are…

  29. Weebabas Avatar

Be warned my dad fell for this and they sent his nudes to his family lol

  30. cobratone1 Avatar

I know someone else that got a similar blackmail threat like this and they never posted the photos when money was not sent.
Hoping your case is also just a scammer situation and your lesson is learned.

  31. Cool-Group-9471 Avatar

Right. Take note folks who wonder. If you decide to sext, No faces. Period.

  32. Miserable_Boat5052 Avatar

Just don’t send nudes period! That’s the dumbest thing anyone can do. Why the hell would anyone EVER think that was a good idea? Don’t ever send anything out into the Internet that you don’t care if the whole world sees it because once you hit send it’s out there and it could end up anywhere. Who knows who could be hacking the account you’re sending whatever pics or information to and your personal stuff end up on Facebook, Tik Tok, Instagram or Reddit. Idiots haven’t figured this shit out yet. HELLO! This isn’t rocket science.
