Theres nothing wrong with being a globalist

r/

Im a globalist and I beleive the world should be under one government that guarantees our human rights. I beleive smaller local governments should exist under that to handle smaller scale issues but they should all listen to one global government. I dont get why people think thats a bad idea, we’re all people and borders are meaningless lines drawn by us. A nation is a patch of dirt. We should all live without borders where we’re all treated equally.

Ohh yea, centralization of power of that magnitude wont cause any problems…. right…

One government doesn’t not and cannot understand the needs of everyone. That’s why state rights in the US is so important. The needs of Nebraska aren’t the same of New York.

  4. Temporary_Race4264 Avatar

Lmao, large governments always protect human rights! They definitely don’t get jaded and disconnected and view human lives as expendable numbers!

Because large groups of people disagree about fundamental things. How do you write a global constitution that harmonizes Sharia Law and secular democracy. How do you merge a Chinese economy with free market capitalism and a Norwegian social democracy.

What human rights count as sacred and more importantly how to protect them isn’t natural law. People have major disagreements over them, that’s why they make these things called nation-states where everyone who’s in agrees on the basics.

Some of the objections are probably because “globalists” is the current right wing dog whistle for “the jews”.

I think the problem would be that if someone were to take that global nation over, they would be taking the entire world. It would most likely fragment itself as we are currently.

I think the primary issue (or my primary issue) with ‘globalism’ is that the term represents a system of international corporate exploitation (rather than a unified humanity).

Some specifics on how id want this to work. Im a social democrat so Id want all essential services to be nationalized while some private corporations will also exist. There will be one military that would be mostly used for dealing with natural disasters and stopping human rights violations if local governments disobey the global government. The global government would have no bead of state but a committee that is elected by the people of the globe.

Im with you on being a “globalist” in the sense of a large degree of cooperation and peaceful
Coexistence among all people on the planet but differences of Culture, ethnicity, language, local geography and life experience naturally leads to different ideas on how people should be governed. On a separate note, governments very often become corrupted, totalitarian, and outright malicious. There’s no reason to expect a world
Government would be immune to this. Therefore wouldn’t you want there to be somewhere to run to?

  17. basesonballs Avatar

You have a naive world view based on Western idealistic values.

Its a very Star Trek philosophy where all “good” civilizations value the same values and grow together.

The problem in the real word is that not all cultures agree on shared values

Indeed brother, the sheeple have enjoyed their freedoms for far too long…

  22. swarmofhyenas Avatar

This is unquestionably an unpopular opinion but i share it. A world government would be governing over the other governments. Bringing accountability to those who currently have none. Essentially no different than what the us and eu do already

  23. The_Business_Maestro Avatar

You know i actually kind of agree. It’s a nuanced topic. Obviously you want to encourage cultural differences and give people options for the society they want. But a global government can offer a high standard of living for everyone, can offer defense if say bad aliens arrive and can pool resources for widespread innovation.

The big question though is how. If you have these different cultures and economic models within the system why don’t they just go independent?

I think the best way for us to achieve similar results is a coalition of countries. United by free trade and defense but ultimately independent

  24. ArjanGameboyman Avatar

It would be nice if there is one Global leader/team enforcing rules regarding climate and use of the planet.

It’s really annoying when countries clean the Ocean and other countries are dumping their trash in it. And countries trying to get CO2 neutral and make it illegal to emission certain gasses while other countries do it anyway.

I agree fully, just take the EU model and scale it up.

Municipality, provincial(or state depending where you are), federal, continental and top it with global for levels of politics. It honestly seems like a great idea, opens up trade, slows war, allows for true freedom of movement. I cannot think of a downside outside of “something may go wrong.” As of that’s ever a reason to not do something.

I used to feel this way until I ruled the world. After that I was like nah

  29. atman8008 Avatar

Globalism doesn’t necessarily mean one government. I support Globalism but not necessarily one government. Because that’s too much power with very very very people. Remember we are talking about 7 billion people.
