This Teen Barista Started Faking Being Fired to Guilt Trip Rude Customers and It is Absolute Genius

Customer service is a waking nightmare for most people. Anyone who has ever worked a cash register knows that some people simply leave their basic manners at home. But instead of just crying in the walk in fridge or quitting on the spot, one teenage barista found the ultimate way to humble rude customers. Her brilliant strategy recently went viral on Reddit, and retail workers everywhere are definitely taking notes.

The Original Poster is a high school student who just wants to make a little extra cash by working a weekend job at a local coffee shop. She is not asking for much, just a normal shift pouring drinks without getting yelled at by strangers.

The weekend crew at this shop consists of the Original Poster, a college student named Danielle, and a guy named James. James happens to be the son of the shop owner and acts as a very informal, friendly shift manager. They are literally just a group of teenagers and young adults trying to do their jobs and get through the weekend rush.

Unfortunately, local coffee shops are a magnet for grumpy adults who have not had their caffeine fix yet. The teenager noted that customers constantly come in and blow up over absolutely nothing. It is genuinely pathetic when a grown a** man throws a massive temper tantrum and takes his morning anger out on a bunch of kids just trying to serve him a hot latte.

Tired of the constant verbal abuse, James and the Original Poster decided to hatch a brilliant plan. They wanted to have a little fun with these entitled adults and hopefully get them to back off. The perfect opportunity presented itself when a guy started raging because his coffee was not hot enough. The teenager had literally just poured it straight out of the commercial machine, making the complaint completely ridiculous and out of her control.

When the yelling started, James casually walked over to the counter and asked the angry man if there was a problem. The customer immediately doubled down and started aggressively ranting at the manager. But instead of offering a free pastry or a polite apology, James turned directly to the teenager and boldly stated that her behavior was unacceptable before brutally firing her right on the spot.

The teenager instantly channeled her inner soap opera star. She started acting incredibly sad and begged James not to fire her. She cried out that her family desperately needed the money and pleaded to keep her minimum wage job. James fully committed to the bit, playing the role of a heartless boss and sternly ordering her to take off her apron and leave the store immediately.

The sudden escalation worked like absolute magic. The angry customer immediately panicked and started furiously backtracking. Suddenly, the temperature of his coffee was not that big of a deal. He actually begged James not to fire the kid, stammering that he did not really mean what he said. James simply stared at him and coldly replied that the shop prides itself on providing the best customer service.

Of course, the teenager did not actually lose her job. It was all a perfectly executed act. The crew realized they struck absolute gold with this tactic. Now, whenever a customer loses their temper at the teenager or the college student, James storms into the room and fires them. Every single time they pull this stunt, the angry adult instantly apologizes.

The teenager was feeling pretty proud of this satisfying social experiment, but her school friends ended up ruining the vibe. When she told them about the coffee shop acting routine, a few of them called it a mean prank. They felt it was cruel to let an adult walk away carrying the guilt of thinking they just ruined a poor teenager’s life over a cup of coffee.

The internet wholeheartedly disagreed with those friends. If you act like a massive a**hole to a minimum wage worker, you absolutely deserve to feel a heavy dose of guilt. Customer service workers are not emotional punching bags for miserable people. Forcing an angry adult to face the real world consequences of their nasty behavior is not a prank at all. It is a highly necessary reality check. Would you pull a stunt like this at your job? Tell us your wildest customer service stories in the comments below!
