This happened a few months ago but is still so funny and awkward to me
For context I am a girl (23) and a lesbian, I was on a dating app for a while and met this girl Tracey. Tracey and I chat for a bit and move the conversation to instagram. We were at the same concert, I was moshing and she was near the bar so we didn’t end up meeting and after that we both lost interest in the convo but remained friends on instagram.
Fast forward like a year, I am in line with for another concert with a friend (Sally). I know Tracey is a big fan of the band and wonder if I will see her. We make a few friends in line and are getting to know each other when Sally walks up with her boyfriend and asks if she can join us. For the record the fact that she has a boyfriend doesn’t make this situation awkward but the fact is I recognise her immediately and she doesn’t recognise me at all.
I don’t say anything because I don’t want to make the situation awkward but eventually she goes around asking for everyone’s insta (we already follow each other) I try to avoid this awkward interaction by leaving to go to the bathroom.
Unfortunately that is where I fucked up and made the situation awkward. When I come back Tracey says that she saw that we already follow each other because she saw that we are mutual friends when she followed Sally’s insta. She rambles and said yeah that time we met at the concert (we didn’t met then)….. and I just say yeah go figures, not wanting to elaborate on how we know each other in front of her bf.
We had to stick together in line like another 4 hours after that, it was ultimately fine but so awkward for me. We still follow each other, she’s cool but I just think it’s so funny that she didn’t recognise me and I should have just acted normal and not panicked and gone to the bathroom.
TL;DR : I ran into a past situationship at a concert line and she didn’t recognise me at all
