TIFU – another hot mic story, drive thru edition!

r/

Tl;DR: another hot mic story. Guy at the drive thru doesn’t realize I wasn’t talking to him.

So I have two jobs, one is fast food. I usually work in the first window or the kitchen, but I’ve been training up front for two to three days.

So today everyone wanted breakfast, no big deal. We ran out of sausage patties, so that’s been stressing me out every time someone orders. I’m still getting used to working the headset so I’m trying to get used to when it automatically does something. No big deal, right?

Oh it was to this guy.

I can’t even remember what actually happened because it’s been that type of day. I mutter “Jesus Christ” to myself because I’ve been struggling to keep up and something that was said. You guessed it, my mic was on.

Guy didn’t say anything to me about it until my coworker starts laughing at what I said. I asked her if she was laughing at me (keep in mind that he knows he didn’t laugh) and that’s when he decided to get offended. Which, fine, I said something religious in stress, I need to train myself out of that. The day I want corporate for my therapy bill is not that day, though.

I apologized to him profusely but he’s still mad. All happy once he’s getting his food, though.
