TIFU by accidentally moaning in the middle of a haircut.

r/

In the grand scheme of things, probably not a huge deal, but I’m mortified.

It’s been a rough month at work. I’m (39M) stressed through the roof, not able to relax, etc. I’m getting ready to travel for work, wanting to look my best I decide to clean up the haircut.

I go to my normal Sports Clips, nothing fancy. Always get a cut and wash. Had a new gal cut my hair, she did a good job. She’s very personal, easy to talk to, easy to feel relaxed.

When the cut is done, she asks if I want a wash which I say I would and she takes me to the back to wash my hair. All normal so far.

I really enjoy the experience of a hot towel and a scalp massage and after a long day/week/month, it really hit the spot for a relaxing atmosphere. I didn’t mean for it to happen but halfway through when I really felt relaxed I let out an involuntary moan/sigh.

Her hands paused for a moment, I apologized and she went on with the wash silently. I swear I felt silent laughter as she finished up (my face was covered in a hot towel, so I couldn’t look, not that I could’ve looked her in the eye anyways).

She handed me a towel, I dried my hair, she combed it and I paid all in silence. I tipped her $10 for my awkward self and left.

Was it sexual? No. Do I think she thought it was? Yes. Should I avoid this place for the next 6 months? Maybe not but I will.

TL;DR I involuntarily moaned when the hairstylist washed my hair after a cut and now I won’t go back for awhile.

You can’t be that stressed if this is what you’re worrying about

Honestly, kinda a compliment you were that relaxed. I wouldn’t worry about it. Lol

I swear I’ve just read the tamest “fucked up” to ever exist. You must be really reaching for karma.

Look at it this way, you gave her a good story to tell!

If it’s any consolation, as a former stylist, it happened all the time. Nbd. It’s funny but not weird. Good to tip though. Just be honest next time and say it felt nice. Because it did.

LMAO. My GF’s sister used to do my hair and I moaned as well. It was a prank that my GF had me do. She then denied. Fortunately, her sister’s bf overheard us and started laughing which gave it all away.

    Nah. Don’t worry. 😁

Head massages are very pleasurable so I’m sure it happens a lot and it’s not like your were gross and/or were flirting with her.

I’m gonna do this next time my mother-in-law cuts my hair, just to fuck with her.

Sometimes I’m so relaxed, words just slip out without warning, like that time I let loose an embarrassingly loud fart during a yoga class.

I doubt this is the first time it’s happened to her. I’ve heard several similar stories from hairdressers. Most people love head massages. Doesn’t sound like you were creepy about it, so I wouldn’t sweat it too bad.

What kind of moan we talking on a scale of 1 to “oahhhhh yeah daddy”

It’s fine, you’re supposed to relax when they wash your hair. Massages feel good and one of the ways we express that is through a moan.

spending too much time in ol’ duders head, it’s ok don’t stress bout this

Anytime I get my hair washed I’m get super relaxed too. I will actually tell who ever is doing my hair “oh this is so relaxing” or “I’m so relaxed I might fall asleep,” and after I acknowledge that I’m super relaxed I feel pretty free to just go on my relaxation journey. I feel like acknowledging it before, versus after is just my norm now. Hope that helps.

I was smiling and giggling during my last shave, it was tickling my face as he shaved me, it felt awkward but it was what it was

Dude some people grunt when they’re using a urinal and are completely fine with it. If they can get way with that you’re fine.

    “She handed me a towel”

Maybe she should have handed you two? Lmao jk funny story.

Happens a lot really. You didn’t make it weird afterwards so I think you’re in the clear. She probably was laughing at you a little bit but not in a super embarrassing way. I wouldn’t stress about it

As a guy that has been single for over a decade, I get it. A haircut is the only time a woman touches me at all anymore. A haircut is a very underrated form of self care. But the physical contact, even as a haircut, is nice. It’s about time for my next cut.

I can tell you very authoritatively that you’re not the first, and won’t be the last. This was nothing but humorous to her, and she knows how good what she’s doing feels. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t go limp with a nice shampoo and head massage.

My ex was a cosmetologist, and more than once in her early years and at school, she “accidentally” dropped her shears into the lap of a person who was pleasuring themselves under the cape. That’s sick. What you did was not.

If you are feeling mortified, buy some snacks for the whole shop, drop them off, and tell her you’re embarrassed, but want her to know it just was very relaxing and you felt bad about making an inadvertent noise. When you go back for your next cut, just take the first available person.

I once had a miniature breakdown while my stylist washed my hair. I was 9 and a half weeks postpartum from a terrible pregnancy and delivery, my postpartum euphoria was starting to fade as cluster feeding had begun. I was also going through some family drama. My mom gave me some money to go have my hair washed, cut, styled, and some highlights added.

I was breastfeeding, I had had to have my darling senior cat put to sleep only days before, there was drama within my family I was having to deal with. I didn’t realize I was over-stimulated and touched out. My stylist has known me since I was 12, she did my hair for my proms.

She starts washing my hair and massaging my scalp, doing little scratchy-scratchy to my scalp, and I just lost it. Started sobbing and gasping and snot running everywhere. She kept right on washing my hair, massaging my scalp. Didn’t say a word, just worked my scalp for me.

She finishes up, (gave me an extra long wash) and takes me to the chair, asks if I trust her enough to play with my hair. I say yes, she turns me from the mirror. I fell into a sort of sleep while she worked. She only woke me once to ask me if the color she’d picked for my highlights was acceptable. I fell asleep under the hair dryer, she woke me when it was over, brought me back to the chair, finished up. When she turned me around my hair looked better than it had in years.

I tried to apologize for losing my cool and she said that I was not the first person to cry while she washed their hair because human touch elicits many kinds of responses. She said she knew the best thing to do was let me have my moment in a safe place and just keep going, not make me feel awkward.

She was right, I felt better emotionally and mentally as well afterward. And, someone got a 50% tip that day (she really did a fabulous job on my highlights).

My wife is a former hairdresser and she said it happens. Though it is awkward.

She did have a coworker whose customer was jerking it under the cape.
